A hotel credit card cranked up its welcome offer — and is somewhat notable for its Global Entry credit feature.
The IHG Rewards One Business Credit Card offers new cardholders up to 175,000 bonus points. Here’s how:
- Earn 140,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three (3) months from account opening.
- Earn an additional 35,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 more (for a total of $7,000) in the first six (6) months your account is open.
Long story short: earn 175,000 bonus points after spending $7,000 within six months of being approved for the card.
This isn’t one of those limited-time offers that drags on for months. This particular promotion expires on May 15, 2024.
The $99 annual fee card also features a couple of perks we love:
Annual Anniversary Free Night
Staring year two of card membership, IHG Business Credit Card holders receive a free night award valued at up to 40,000 points each year they hold the card. That easily earns back — and then some — the card’s $99 annual fee.
Platinum Elite Status
Cardholders receive complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum elite status. That comes with perks such as:
- Room upgrades (when available)
- Guaranteed room availability
- Complimentary internet
- Priority check-in
- Late check-out
- Welcome amenity (usually 500 points or a free alcoholic beverage)
- $30 In-room spa credit
An Excellent Money-Saver: Fourth Night Free
My family loves the card’s Fourth Night Free benefit.
When you book a three-night award stay using points, you extend your stay for a fourth reward night free. Think of it as “redeem for three, get the fourth free.” That’s been a great money saver for family vacations.
What About Ponts Earnings?
The IHG Business Credit Card earns:
- 26X total per dollar spent during IHG stays
- 5X:
- Travel
- Gas stations
- Select advertising
- Restaurants
- 3X on all other eligible purchases
There are no foreign transaction fees.
OK, So, What’s the Big Whoop About the Global Entry Benefit?
The IHG Rewards Business Credit Card is one of them.
But here’s the thing: the card’s annual fee is $99. Global Entry’s application fee jumps to $120 (from $100) this fall. (NEXUS goes from $50 to $120!)
If you don’t yet have Global Entry or NEXUS, the next few months are a prime time to apply (or renew). Considering the IHG Rewards Business Credit Card‘s annual fee is $99, why not get five years of Global Entry for what could end up being a net $21 savings?
