I don’t know about you but I’m stunned that this is the last week of 2022. Like, how did that happen so fast?
And a bunch of travel and cashback card statement credits expire in just a few days.
Some of them are ongoing, annual benefits. One is a quarterly promotion.
Even if you forgot about them during the rest of the year or applied for a credit card late in 2021 or early 2022, there’s still time for you to enjoy some savings. Remember: all of these credits are available on an if-used basis and don’t roll over to the next month or year. Plus, some require manual activation or enrollment.
There are several food delivery and rideshare offers — which could come in very handy for your New Years plans.
We also added in some monthly statement credit opportunities just as refreshers — or in case you didn’t already know about them in the first place!
So let’s take a look at what’s out there!

The Platinum Card® from American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express (learn how to apply) is loaded with statement credit offers. I mean, packed. Here are the annual and monthly statement credits expiring this month.
Keep in mind these statement credits are based on the calendar year. Terms apply to each.
- $200 Hotel Credit: Earn up to $200 in annual statement credit for prepaid bookings at Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection properties. (The Hotel Collection properties require a minimum two-night stay.) Reservations must be booked through American Express Travel. So if you haven’t yet booked a stay, do it now. Here’s how I used my credit to enjoy a significantly discounted stay at Bellagio Las Vegas. Once you book your eligible stay, make sure it posts to your account — and isn’t accidentally clawed back. And remember that you can’t change FHR reservations without some kind of penalty.
- $200 Airline Fee Credit: Earn up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year on incidental fees spent with one participating airline selected through Amex. (Enrollment required.)
- $35 Uber Cash: The Platinum Card® from American Express members receive monthly Uber Cash deposits valid for Uber rides or Uber Eats purchases in the United States. They’re dispensed as $15 each month from January through November, and $35 in December. (Enrollment required.)
- $189 CLEAR Credit: Earn up to $189 in annual statement credit for a CLEAR membership. (Enrollment required.) Plus, don’t forget how easy it is to get a CLEAR discount. If you don’t yet have CLEAR, use our referral link (thank you!) to enjoy your first two months for free.
- $50 Saks Fifth Avenue: Earn up to $100 statement credits each year for purchases made in-store at Saks Fifth Avenue or online at saks.com. Available as $50 from January through June, then $50 in statement credits from July through December. (Enrollment required.) Not sure what the heck you’d buy at Saks? Here are some ideas. Remember to start your shopping sesh through a cashback portal such as Rakuten or TopCashback and earn some extra money!
- $20 Monthly Digital Entertainment Credit: Earn up to $20 in statement credits each month ($240 annually) on eligible purchases or subscriptions with The Disney Bundle (or its individual components: Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+), Peacock, Audible, SiriusXM, and The New York Times. (Enrollment required.) The purchases must be made through the respective providers’ websites — and not their apps or other services.
- $300 Monthly Equinox Credit: Earn up to $300 in statement credits each year for purchases of select Equinox Fitness Club monthly memberships or a digital subscription to Equinox+. (Enrollment required.)
- $12.95 Walmart+ Subscription: Charge a Walmart+ subscription to your Platinum Card and receive the monthly fee credited back to your account. Worth $155 annually. (Enrollment required.)
The Platinum Card® from American Express‘ annual fee is $695. (Rates and Fees.) But we’ve shown how it’s easy to actually come out ahead.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express also features several statement credit opportunities.
- $10 Monthly Wireless Service Credit: Cardmembers can earn up to $10 per month in statement credit ($120 annually) for purchases made directly from any eligible US wireless telephone provider. (Enrollment required.)
- $200 Dell Credit: Cardholders may earn up to $400 per year ($200 semi-annually) in statement credits for Dell Technologies purchases charged to their Amex Business Platinum card. (Enrollment required.) Once again, start your shopping sessions through a cashback portal (i.e., Rakuten or TopCashback) and earn some extra money.
- $200 Airline Fee Credit: Earn up to $200 back in statement credits each calendar year on incidental fees spent with one participating airline selected through Amex. (Enrollment required.)
- $189 CLEAR Credit: Earn up to $189 in annual statement credit for a CLEAR membership. (Enrollment required.) Again, remember how easy it is to get a CLEAR discount. If you don’t yet have CLEAR, use our referral link (thank you!) to enjoy your first two months for free.
- $150 Adobe Credit: Cardholders can earn up to $150 in statement credit each year on purchases of annual prepaid subscriptions for Creative Cloud All Apps or Single Apps for Teams or Acrobat Pro DC with E-Sign or advanced E-Sign for Teams. (Enrollment required.) Monthly subscriptions are excluded.

American Express® Gold Card
The American Express® Gold Card doesn’t offer as many statement credit promotions as its Platinum cousins. But its $250 annual fee is also much lower than the other two — and not difficult to earn back. (See rates and fees; terms apply.)
- $10 Restaurant and Delivery Service Credit: Cardholders receive up to $10 in monthly statement credit when using their Gold Card to pay for purchases at these select restaurants and delivery services:
- $10 Uber Cash: American Express® Gold Card members who add their card to the Uber account may each month automatically get $10 in Uber Cash for Uber Eats orders or Uber rides in the U.S., totaling up to $120 per year. (Enrollment required.)

The classic American Express® Green Card offers two statement credits:
- $189 CLEAR Credit: Earn up to $189 in annual statement credit for a CLEAR membership. Enrollment required. Terms apply.
- $100 Lounge Buddy Credit: Earn up to $100 in annual statement credit purchases made through Lounge Buddy
To paraphrase the late, great, Casey Kasem: we’re not done yet! On with the countdown!
Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card
Cardholders can earn up to $250 in statement credits each calendar year on incidental fees spent with one participating airline selected through Amex. (Terms apply. Enrollment required. The Hilton Honors Aspire American Express Card is unavailable through our affiliate channel. Eye of the Flyer independently collected all information on this card.)
Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card ditched its property credit in lieu of an annual $300 dining statement credit feature: cardholders may earn up to $25 a month in dining statement credits each calendar year for eligible purchases made at restaurants worldwide. (Dining purchases also earn 3X Bonvoy points on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card.) Terms apply.
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express may earn a $7 monthly statement credit when spending $13.99 or more each month on a subscription to the Disney Bundle. This benefit is valid only at Disneyplus.com, Hulu.com, or Plus.espn.com in the U.S. (Terms apply. Enrollment required.)

Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express
The no-annual-fee Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express also comes with a Disney Bundle benefit! (Rates and Fees.) Cardmembers may earn a $7 monthly statement credit when spending $13.99 or more each month on a subscription to the Disney Bundle. Again, this benefit is valid only at Disneyplus.com, Hulu.com, or Plus.espn.com in the U.S. (Terms apply. Enrollment required.)
Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Several Pay Yourself Back categories expire this month and, as far as we know now, will not be extended.
Pay Yourself Back allows cardmembers to redeem points toward statement credit — but at elevated values in certain categories.
- Airbnb: 50% Bonus (1.5 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Annual Membership Fee: (1 cent per point) through December 31, 2022
- Dining (including eligible takeout and delivery): 50% Bonus (1.5 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Donations to Eligible Charities: 50% Bonus (1.5 cents per point) through December 31, 2022. (We provide a list lower down in the post.)
As a reminder, Chase teamed up with Instacart to add a monthly $15 Instacart credit through July 2024. Enrollment is required. (You can do that here.) Plus, Chase Sapphire Reserve® members are eligible for a complimentary one-year Instacart+ membership. (Enroll here.) That’ll come in handy when loading up on supplies (read: snacks and booze) for our annual New Year’s Eve get-together that’ll end with us adults fast asleep well before midnight.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card members also have some Pay Yourself Back love about to leave town.
- Airbnb: 25% Bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Donations to Eligible Charities: 25% Bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
The CSP also features Instacart benefits: a $15 quarterly Instacart credit and six-month Instacart+ trial membership. (Enroll here.)
Chase Freedom Flex℠
I suggest people hold the Chase Freedom Flex℠ for a couple of reasons (actually many more than that): first, there’s no annual fee. Secondly, there are quarterly 5% bonus categories. (Awarded as 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards® that can be redeemed as cashback, statement credit, applied towards travel purchases made through Chase, gift cards, etc.) Card members earn 5%/5X on up to $1500 in eligible purchases each quarter. (Manual activation required.)
This quarter, the bonus cashback categories are purchases made with PayPal and Walmart.
Considering many online retailers accept PayPal as a payment method, that’s a super-easy way to earn 5X points (or 5% cashback). Don’t panic if you don’t yet have the Chase Freedom Flex℠. You can learn here how to apply and then activate the 5% bonus before December 15 if you’re approved.
The Flex also features Instacart perks: a $10 quarterly Instacart credit and three-month Instacart+ trial membership. (Enroll here.)
Finally, donations to eligible charities are eligible for a 25% Pay Yourself Back bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022.
Hey, all of that isn’t back for a no-annual-fee card. (Learn here how to apply.) The promotion also applies to the legacy Chase Freedom, which is no longer available for applications.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®
The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is last and least in terms of Chase personal/consumer card benefits. It carries a $10 quarterly Instacart credit and three-month Instacart+ trial membership. (Enroll here.) But for a no-annual-fee card, that’s like making $40 back each year if you use Instacardt.
Donations to eligible charities are eligible for a 25% Pay Yourself Back bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022.
Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
This card features some expiring Pay Yourself Back categories:
- Internet, Cable, and Phone Services Purchases (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Donations to Eligible Charities: 25% Bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
The promotion also applies to the Ink Business Plus, which is no longer available for applications.
Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card — a truly great no-annual-fee business credit card — has these Pay Yourself Back categories:
- Internet, Cable, and Phone Services Purchases (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Donations to Eligible Charities: 25% Bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card
Not to be left out, the no-annual-fee Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card features a couple of Pay Yourself Back bonuses ending this month.
I bet you can’t guess what they are. 😉
But just in case you skipped the previous two cards, here are the categories:
- Internet, Cable, and Phone Services Purchases (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022
- Donations to Eligible Charities: 25% Bonus (1.25 cents per point) through December 31, 2022

Final Approach
I think that encompasses most of the major statement credit opportunities available and expiring soon. If there’s something I missed, please let me know in the below Comments section.
Statement credits are a great way to earn money back (especially for high-end annual fee cards!). But using them is the key — and remembering what they are is half the battle. I hope this post helps!

Chris,
I have the Business Amex Plat card. I have $100 left to use on Delta credit. The first $100 was easy. Got a Green Card for my GF’s daughter on the account and she used it to pay for luggage. But I also have DL Amex cards and dont pay for checked bags. Any suggestions as to what to get from delta to use that last $100?
I have two trips left this year. RT FLL to BNA for work and RT FLL to LAS (used Companion ticket for I (first class) seat, so that was a $1200 benefit on my DL Reserve card)
Book a Pay With Miles ticket and put $100 cash balance on your Business Platinum Card. Or a bunch of award tickets and charge the fees to the card (but that’d be, like, nine award trips :-). So I’d just do the PWM approach).
The AMEX Dell credit is a real value.
As Chris has mentioned previously, Dell sells a lot of other items other than Dell Computers.
I just went and “purchased” my TurboTax software for 2021. I say purchased in name only since the Amex credit will fully pay for the software cost. Consider it a freebie. Thanks AMEX and Dell.
Nicely done!
