I’ve held The Business Platinum Card® from American Express for several years. Rene encouraged me to get it and becoming a cardholder was truly a great decision.

So is the card right for you? Here’s a look at what it offers.

What is the Amex Business Platinum Card’s Annual Fee?

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express‘ annual fee is $695. (See rates and fees; terms apply.)

120,000 Membership Rewards Points

As part of a promotion, new members can earn 120,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases within three months of being approved for the card.

Wireless Credit

Cardmembers can earn up to $120 in annual statement credits for purchases made directly from any US wireless telephone provider. These are doled out up to $10 per month. (Enrollment required.)

Airport Lounge Access

Cardholders can access Delta Sky Clubs, American Express Centurion Lounges and Suites, select Lufthansa Business Lounges, and Priority Pass (enrollment required) lounges when traveling. (You must be traveling on a Delta marketed and operated flight to gain access to Sky Clubs.)

Global Entry or TSA Pre√ Credit

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express members may receive statement credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre√ application fees charged to their cards.

The $100 application fee for Global Entry is eligible to be credited back to the card once every four (4) years. Alternatively, the $85 TSA Pre√ may be credited back every 4.5 years when charged to the card. (It’s an either/or option. You can’t have both, sorry.)

35% Pay With Points Rebate

This is the reason I got the card in the first place.

Cardholders earn 35% Membership Rewards points back when paying with points for all or part of a qualifying flight booked with Amex Travel. This is capped at 1,000,000 points back per calendar year.

Want to take Delta partner mileage runs? This is a fantastic avenue for saving some money and points. Keep in mind that you generally earn elite and redeemable frequent flyer points/miles with these purchases.

$200 Airline Incidental Credit

Cardholders earn up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year in eligible purchases made with a participating airline. (Enrollment required.) we’re talking about checked baggage fees, onboard food and beverages, and other things.

The Tillamook Cheese & Fruit plate -- part of Delta Air Lines' Flight Fuel offerings -- and a cup of Woodford Reserve bourbon whiskey are seen onboard a Delta Air Lines 737-700 flight in Comfort+.

Bonus Spending Categories

Cardholders can earn 1.5X Membership Rewards points on purchases made in the following categories:

  • Electronics goods, retailers, software, and cloud service providers
  • Construction materials and hardware supplies
  • Shipping providers

These bonus earnings are capped at $2 million ins spending per calendar year.  (This is in addition to 1.5X points earned on purchases over $5,000.)

Complimentary Marriott and Hilton Gold Status

card_name members may receive gold status with bold Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors. (Enrollment is required.) Even if you don’t stay at either Marriott or Hilton, this can be valuable when matching hotel status levels between loyalty programs.

5X Points on Select Travel Purchases

Members who use card_name can earn 5X Membership Rewards points for flights and prepaid hotels on amextravel.com. That’s fine for flights. But keep in mind that Amex’s travel booking service is an OTA. So you (likely) won’t enjoy any elite status benefits on any hotel stays purchased through Amex Travel.

Dell Statement Credit

Cardholders may earn up to $400 per year ($200 semi-annually) in if-used statement credits for Dell Technologies purchases charged to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. (Enrollment required.)

(This reminds me of the Saks Fifth Avenue statement credit on The Platinum Card® from American Express.) Keep in mind that Dell sells much more than just Dell computers. They have a host of other products. Bluetooth phones. SSD and hard drives. Xbox stuff.

I max this out every year — buying gifts or using it for my company’s electronics upgrades. I plan to buy a gaming chair for my office.

Remember to start your purchase through a cashback portal such as Rakuten or TopCashback. You might earn back a few extra bucks.

Adobe Statement Credit

Ever wanted Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Premiere, or Audition?

card_name members can earn up to $150 in annual statement credits on select purchases. (Enrollment required.)

What’s eligible?

Per Amex: “Valid only on purchases of annual prepaid subscriptions for Creative Cloud All Apps or Single Apps for Teams or Acrobat Pro DC with E-Sign or advanced E-Sign for Teams. Adobe Creative Cloud InCopy App is not eligible.”

Indeed Statment Credit

card_name members may earn up to $360 in annual statement credits on “all Indeed hiring and recruiting products and services to post open positions and find quality talent.” (This is available for up to $90 per quarter. Enrollment required.)
