2022 is shaping up to be more ominous than its evil predecessors: 2020 and 2021.
The FAA apparently issued a brief ground stop at several West Coast airports on Monday afternoon — right about the same time North Korea fired a test missile into the East Sea.
The delay was brief, however. A Fox News report says flights at Hollywood-Burbank Airport (BUR) were affected by about 15 minutes — but no official reason for the ground stop was given. Yet on audio obtained by Today, an BUR air traffic controller diverts an arriving aircraft to nearby Van Nuys airport (VNY) citing “a national security event.” (Can you image being a pilot and hearing ATC telling you to divert because of a national security evert? Yikes. Like, 9-11 flashbacks instantly come to mind.)
So I’ll take wild a stab and say the ground stop was somehow related to the NoKo missile test.
I bet some people will be a little nervous next time their flight is delayed because of a ground stop.
