The above is clearly not the A321 we were on. Euro business class is a strange thing to most Americans. It is the same seat as in coach, including the limited leg room, but you have a blocked middle seat.
The few times I have had an empty middle seat in coach on domestic flights it has made a world of difference as to the comfort of the flight. I would still rather have a “real” business class seat but for shorter European flights this is what we get.
We arrived at this flight well rested after our 10+ hour Air France A350 overnight flight from Mexico City. Normally I dread connecting in CDG or Charles DeGaul on the outskirts of Paris but this time everything went smooth as silk. We even had some time before boarding to chill in the lounge (that I reviewed before) before our flight. On to lunch/dinner on our 2+ hour flight to Lisbon.
As much as I gripe about Euro business class seats I am always impressed with the level of meals on short flights that are provided.
After the just so-so meals on the last flight I was a bit hungry and was also trying to reset my tummy clock to Lisbon time zone. This cold dish was quite good and I ate every bite. The chicken was flavorful and the bread and cheese on the side not only paired well but made for a filling meal.
The dessert really was the star. Forget about finding a “crunchy vanilla cream puff” on any of your Delta flights nor a cognac to enjoy with it (see burger post above for what dessert is on Delta nowadays in 1st class). I savored each bite and sip of DOBBÉ.
Overall this flight was delightful and on time. The service was tops, the food was good and the views were dreamy. What else can you ask for on a short domestic European flight? – René
