Before a recent Delta flight in first class, at the 7-day window, the option to select my meal popped up on my Fly Delta App.
But clicking it instantly gave me an error I had not seen before. It looked like this:
Now, before anyone says anything, it is NOT my fault for using a one generation back Fly Delta App because I tested this with the older app version and then upgraded to the latest one and got the exact same error (then I un-installed and put back the older version that is usable).
The above error is so bad that I was not even able to see what the choices would be.
I then called the Delta Diamond line because they normally can quickly tell me the choices and make my selection for me. But that did not work either as the phone rep go the same error I did and said to try again another day.
Gee, thanks!
In the old days, I would just jump on Twitter and DM Delta and they could give me the options and make my selection for me. So instead, I did this:
I again fired up the fly Delta App and choose the text me option and after some annoying prompts with the Delta AI bot that could not get past the idea that I wanted a specialty meal, I got a real live human on the text chain.
They were able to give me a brief overview of my choices and then lock in my selection. So now, when I fire up the Fly Delta App I see this:
If I now try to change the request I am back to the error I got when starting this process but the app has updated to show I have made a selection. At least I will not need to depend on FEBO to choose my seat to be first in line to make a selection (and then hope the flight attendants follow FEBO to begin with).
Hopefully this will get fixed soon but until then you have a chance to test out the message us text feature from Delta! – René

-Meal selection not working properly.
-Using RUC/GUC not allowing people to check in.
-RUC/GUC not being applied properly.
-etc etc etc
@dave – Lowest price sub-contractors maybe? Or maybe they are paying them in SkyPennies? 🙁
As always, not everyone has had trouble using the Delta app/site. I guess I’ve been lucky. Fix your robot please Delta.
Fix your robots Delta. Darned robots!
I am experiencing similar problems with AeroMexico. The invitation to select a meal takes you to the regular AM flight page, with everything listed EXCEPT the option to select a meal. That is the same result for both online and via their app. Aargh. Are others experiencing this as well?
@Bernard – The best way to choose meals for AM flights is on the AeroMexico web site. See: https://eyeoftheflyer.com/2022/06/07/review-the-aeromexico-first-class-hamburger-meal/
The hamburger story was a great story! But I have tried several times via the website having logged in my PNR. It brings up the record just fine–but does not include that option to select meals. 🙁
@Bernard – Have you called Delta to get the AM PNR and used that?
Booked this on AM directly and used their PNR from the beginning.
Thank you for responding so quickly, Rene!
Goodness I do NOT like the app upgrade either !
Rene, how do I downgrade to the previous iteration please?
Thank you for your help and amazing pointers!
@Nina (Nima) – If you use and iPhone you can’t. If you are on Android you have to uninstall the current one and search the web for an older APK. Be aware there are risks in doing the latter.
A couple of things I’ve noticed: was getting the usual error on ‘select your entree,’ but went into the passenger details and there’s a link to select/change entree — that worked, and then the ‘change your entree’ link appeared as well. That particular approach of looking at passenger details also worked for choosing/modifying selections on an international flight that has a domestic segment also. The normal ‘change entree’ would go either international or domestic, not both, but the passenger-links were working for all segments. Another bug is that occasionally (often?) the checkmark would not show up even though the agents confirmed that the selections were saved.
