Don’t have any plans or commitments for Thanksgiving weekend 2021? Need some Delta MQD and MQM? You might be interested in this AeroMexico business class run from Los Angeles (LAX) to Madrid (MAD). It’s projected to earn $5745 MQD and 21,626 MQM.
Added bonus: all flights are currently scheduled on 787s!
There are two different prices and itineraries available. Both depart LAX on Thursday at 1:30 PM. It’s their Sunday returns that differ in time and price.
The first costs $1427.35.
The afternoon departure means an overnight in Mexico City. Maybe you’re taking advantage of the nice Hilton Amex welcome offers right now. You might want to cash in some points or a cert to stay at the airport’s Hilton.
Or for $200 more, you can spend about eight more hours in Madrid — and depart Saturday at 11:00 PM.
Either way, you get back into LAX just before noon on Sunday. Keep in mind that’ll likely be a crazy day with holiday travelers — especially at LAX. But if you’re positioning to/from Los Angeles, you may be able to score a good bump if flights are oversold.
The trip is estimated to fly 14,364 miles. When it comes to Delta MQM, you’ll earn 40% of the distance flown when crediting the trip to your Delta SkyMiles account. So expect about $5745 MQD. That’s a 4X return on the cheaper itinerary and just over 3.5X for the more expensive opportunity giving your more time in Madrid.
The Unofficial SkyMiles Calculator estimates your MQM earnings at 21,626. You’ll also pull in at least 28,832 redeemable SkyMiles (before any applicable Medallion bonuses).
Don’t Dawdle!
AeroMexico isn’t exactly shy about killing these deals soon after we post them. So book quickly if you want to do the run.
Where to Book
René usually starts TopCashback and then books through JustFly or Priceline.
AeroMexico flights purchased through those OTA generally code as AeroMexico tickets — which is great if you pay with The Platinum Card® from American Express (5X points) or the American Express® Gold Card (3X). Or maybe consider using a Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (3X on travel), to name but a few.
Don’t pay for seats. Once you book your trip, take your AeroMexico PNR and go into AeroMexico’s website to select your seats.
