Delta SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members might’ve noticed a change in the Job Well Done certificates they can give Delta employees.
The new certificates have printed expiration dates — for December 31, 2024. Previous iterations of the JWDs (as we call them) did not have explicit expiration dates.
I noticed this upon opening my Platinum Medallion package earlier this year. A couple of recent message board posts (FlyerTalk, Reddit) reminded me that the certificates expire soon!
So, what gives?
Job Well Done Certificates
The JWD program allows Medallions to explicitly thank and reward Delta employees who go above and beyond.
From what we’ve learned, JWD certificates awarding 500 points are worth $5 and can be redeemed through a Delta company “shop” for merchandise, travel, and cash rewards. Diamonds usually receive four to give out each Medallion year; Platinums get two.
We originally heard in 2020 that JWDs would be discontinued. But new certificates were sent to Medallion members in 2021.
You’ve probably seen how genuinely happy and pleasantly surprised Delta employees are when you give them a JWD. I love it! I think it makes my day just as much as theirs.
One benefit of the JWD program is we know a Delta employee receives an award for our feedback. Six years ago, Delta introduced an email address to which Medallions could email their feedback about specific employees.
I’ve spoken with some Delta folks who think the recognition emails aren’t ever given to the proper employees. Others say the emails are important and find their way to the deserving person.
(That said, I’d make sure to include as much information as possible when emailing Delta about a specific employee: include the date of interaction, your confirmation number, the employee’s name, etc.)
We’ve contacted Delta to see if the JWD program is being modified or discounted. We’ll keep you posted.
No Delta Trips Left This Year? Here’s How Can You Can Still Award a JWD
Most of us hand JWD certificates to flight attendants, gate agents, check-in reps, etc. However, you can also give the award codes to Delta employees over the phone verbally.
For example, let’s say a Delta phone rep is exceptionally nice and helpful. You can tell that person, I want to give you a Job Well Done certificate code. They can write it down and then redeem it.
So, if you don’t have any Delta trips left this year but want to ensure someone receives your JWD awards, find a reason to call Delta — and make someone’s day.

What about legacy JWD certificates with no expiration date?
@LauraW – The old ones should be good but with Delta you just never know. If you have flights left this year I would give them out. Or if a phone rep does something nice give it to them.
Thanks for the info Chris to know that the DL employees are getting the same SkyPeso ‘value’ that us traveling sheep are of 1 cent per point. I’ve also noticed over the years their points have gone down just like our Award miles have gone up. I think they used to be 1000 points when the JWD first started.
Gotta love Ed… longing for the bygone days of Richard.
