My family is talking about not only about plans for the fall and winter holidays this year but we’re already planning a trip next spring! (We also have a high school graduation soon after.) That means we’re taking stock of our points and miles balances, taking inventory of how many “free” hotel nights we have, and deciding if we need to apply for any of the great rewards credit card offers out there.
We’ve blogged a bunch of them during the past several weeks. But in case you’re in the same boat (or plane!) we are, here’s a comprehensive list of the big offers out there — and when they expire (if those dates have been announced).

Earn a Southwest Companion Pass!
These offers could come in quite handy if you want to bring a family member or friend along with you during your travels.
Both the Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card and Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card, allow new applicants to earn 120,000 bonus points. The points you earn spending your way there will help score you a Southwest Companion Pass — if you meet the ultimate minimum spending requirement.
With the Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card, you can earn 80,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases within three (3) months of being approved for card membership. Then, earn an additional 40,000 points when you spend $15,000 within the first nine (9) months of being approved.
Meanwhile, you can earn 60,000 bonus points if you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within three (3) months of being approved for the Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card. Then, earn an additional 60,000 points when you spend $15,000 within the first nine (9) months of being approved.
Each card earns at least 1X point per dollar spent on eligible purchases. That means you’ll be (again, at least) 15,000 points richer if you reach the $15,000 minimum spending requirement. That’s a total of 135,000 points — which is enough to earn the legendary Southwest Companion Pass!
Note that all 135,000 points must be earned within a calendar year. The Companion Pass is good for the rest of the year in which you earn it plus all the following calendar year. So, you could knock out the spending out ASAP and have the Companion Pass through the rest of 2024 and all of 2025.
A better idea might be this: if you think you can spend big in the early part of 2025, you could get a card while the promotion runs (we haven’t been told an end date), hold on to the card, then start spending like crazy on January 1, 2025. If you reach the $15k, you’d have the rest of 2025 and all of 2026 to enjoy the Companion Pass!
Of the two cards, we prefer the Southwest Performance Business Card because it features better Southwest travel perks.

60,000 Bonus Points + 20% In Restaurant Statement Credits: Expires November 6
The American Express® Gold Card received a refresh in July. As part of the big announcement, Amex tweaked the card’s welcome offer. You can now earn 60,000 bonus Membership Rewards® points after you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases on the card within six (6) months of being approved for card membership. Plus, receive 20% back in statement credits on eligible purchases made at restaurants worldwide within the first 6 months of Card Membership, up to $100 back. This limited-time offer expires on November 6, 2024. Terms apply. .
The card’s annual fee is $325 (See Rates and Fees). But the statement credits and points earnings help me come out ahead.
I really like the earning structure on this card.
- 4X Membership Rewards® points per dollar spent at restaurants worldwide, including takeout and delivery in the U.S, on up to $50,000 spent per calendar year, then 1X.
- 4X at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per calendar year in purchases, then 1X).
- 3X on flights booked directly with airlines or at amextravel.com
- 2X on prepaid hotel bookings at amextravel.com
- 1X points on all eligible purchases
The 4X categories are where my card gets the biggest workouts.

100,000 Bonus Membership Rewards® Points + 0% Intro APR
The American Express® Business Gold Card recently announced a limited-edition “white gold” card you can add to your wallet (yay?). To celebrate, they announced you can now earn 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards® points after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases with the Business Gold Card within the first three (3) months of being approved for card membership. The APR will be a regular card feature. But it’s the 100,000 bonus points that we wonder about: how long will it stick around? We haven’t been told.
Points-earnings wise, here’s how you can do:
- 4X Membership Rewards points on the two (2) eligible categories on which your business spends the most each billing cycle, on up to $150,000 in combined purchases from these categories each calendar year (then 1X thereafter). Only the top 2 categories each billing cycle will count towards the $150,000 cap. These are the current eligible categories:

Still Around: 150,000 Bonus Points
A few months ago, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express raised it welcome offer and gives you the chance to earn 150,000 bonus American Express® Membership Rewards® points after you spend $20,000 on eligible purchases on the card within the first three (3) months of being approved for card membership. Terms apply. Learn here how to apply for this offer.
I’ve held the Amex Business Platinum for many years, primarily because of its great benefits. While the card carries a $695 annual fee (See Rates & Fees), I’ve written how it’s fairly easy to earn back that figure — and then some.
