The Platinum Card® from American Express just added more perks so cardholders can help celebrate the card’s 40th anniversary.

We wrote about several special Amex Offers available to members who applied for the card prior by April 20, 2024. And here’s another. (Don’t worry, new card members and potential applicants: there’s stuff for you, too!)
Cardmembers can transfer American Express® Membership Rewards®® points to Hilton Honors at a 40% bonus rate through May 31, 2024. For example, transferring 10,000 Amex points to Hilton would ultimately give you 14,000 Honors points. Again, that’s available only to people who applied for the Amex Platinum Card by April 20. (Of course, this was announced the day after I reserved several Hilton nights and prepaid with the Delta Stays statement credit on my Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card. Ah, well.)

Perks Available to All Cardmembers
If you applied for the Amex Platinum Card after April 20 — or are thinking about getting the card — here are the celebration benefits available to you (and existing cardholders):
Third Night Free: Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection
Cardmembers can enjoy a complimentary third night at select Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection properties. Keep in mind these reservations must be made through Amex Travel. (Here’s a link to the select properties.)
This likely means the room rate is comped and you’re on the hook for everything else. But considering these properties go from anywhere between a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a night, a complimentary third night can yield plenty of savings.
FHR benefits include:
- Early check-in and room upgrades (when available)
- Daily breakfast for two (valued at up $60 total each day)
- Resort or spa credit (varies by property)
- Guaranteed late check-out
Centurion Lounge
Mixologist Jim Meehan created a “Platinum 1984” cocktail that will be offered in United States Centurion Lounge locations through summer. “Special treats” will also be available to guests.
Other Benefits
There are a couple of food and event perks, too.
40 Nights of Platinum gives members “special access to select popular Global Dining Access by Resy restaurants across the U.S., such as Cocodaq (NYC), Dante BH (LA) and Mandolin (Miami) from May 30 to September 26.”
Platinum Card holders will have access to “specially curated events within the Premium Events Collection™(formerly known as By Invitation Only).” These tend to be events such as concerts (advance Coachella tickets, anyone?), live stage shows (plenty of Broadway Theatre District shows) and other events.
