A popular credit card promotion from a few years ago is back — with a brand new look!
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Cards made with 33% metal from retired 747s are once again available for a limited time. Both new and existing card members are eligible to receive the new designs.
Cards are available while supplies last through June 5, 2024.
The personal/consumer Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card 747 edition is made from the skin of retired aircraft N670US, which apparently logged about 65,000,000 miles in the air. (Insert your favorite joke about lifetime Medallion status.)
Meanwhile, the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card‘s metal came from N662US (pictured below), which flew a million more miles than its consumer counterpart.
If you’re not yet a Delta Reserve or Delta Business Reserve Amex cardholder, the 747 card will automatically ship when you’re approved (again, while supplies last through June 5.)
Existing Card Holders: Here’s How to Request a Delta 747 Amex
Don’t fret if you’re like me and already hold a Delta Reserve Amex (in my case, the Delta Business Amex Reserve). You can still get the 747 Delta Amex.
There’s no need to say your card is lost or stolen (unless it really is). Amex knows people sometimes want to change designs for its cards that offer different versions.
Log in to your Amex account either on the desktop site or Amex app.
On the Desktop Site
First, click “Account Services.”
Then select “Card Management.”
This will take you to a screen where you should click “Replace a Card.”
Choose “I want to change my Card’s design” on the next page.
You’ll select “Boeing 747” then click “Continue.”
On the next page, click “Submit.” Expect your new card in a couple of weeks.
On the Amex App
The process is somewhat similar on the Amex app.
Log in and tap “Account” at the bottom of your screen.
Tap “Manage Account.”
You’ll be taken a collage of your cards (if you have more than one). Tap “Replace Card.”
You’ll be shown all of your Amex cards. Select your Reserve. You’ll then be taken to this page:
Tap “Continue to Replace Card.”
Select “Change Card Design” and then “Continue.” Select the 747 design on the next page.
You’ll be asked to provide the three-digit CSC on the back of your Reserve card and also provide whatever answer you have on file for your mother’s maiden name.
Make sure all the details are correct on the next page and tap “Replace Card.”

Thanks for explaining that existing Reserve card holders can get the new design. I had read an article about the new design the other day and it only focused on new or upgraded card holders. Thanks for the step-by-step instructions as well.
You’re quite welcome. Supply for existing cardholders ran out pretty quickly last time. Make sure to order a replacement sooner than later if you want one.
Good timing on this! My personal Reserve card was in need of replacing as the back was delaminating from the main card. What a great time to get it changed!
I’d really like a card made out of a door blown off a Boeing 737
