Sorry, But Delta and Amex Probably Aren’t That Into You

Autumn is so enchanting: Shorter days. Cooler temperatures. Airline loyalty programs crush your heart more than that special homecoming date. 😉

TSA busted someone with a loaded gun. The firearm owner did the gentlemanly thing: he blamed his wife.

One of the United States’ only major airports without a lounge is finally getting a club!

And where do we start with Delta?

A Delta spokesperson answered some questions we had.

First, I really wish René would break out of his shell a bit. 😉

Mr. RdL wrote a post titled, “Don’t You DARE Give Your Trust to Delta Air Lines SkyMiles / Medallion Team Ever Again!”

Would you believe that “Subtle” is his middle name?!

He also wrote this great piece that garnered a lot of traffic this week. Not to mention, he pointed out SkyMiles business class awards prices from Mexico City jumped 40%.

Delta’s SkyMiles 2025 announcements were so unpopular that DL CEO Ed Bastian announced the airline is making “modifications” to the changes.

No matter how much you love Delta and Amex, you might not be eligible for ANY more SkyMiles card welcome offers.

Finally

I sometimes beat this into the ground — but it’s because I want readers to understand it.

Thank you for reading the blog, commenting on posts, and sharing our content with others.

After Delta SkyMiles 2025 Disaster - What Now Does Delta Air Lines Fear the Most From Us?

How many days are you going to keep riding the “I Hate Delta” horse? I assume you are working to get an ad deal from JetBlue or United?
We get your point. But I disagree. I live in ATL and appreciate Delta’s reliability, safety & professionalism of the staff, and best flight options from my hometown. Their prices are not any higher than Southwest in this market. I have a SkyMiles AMEX Platinum card and have been Platinum status for more than 20 years. I will continue to fly Delta despite the changes. I would appreciate you going back to covering travel with your posts instead of continue to whine about Delta. If I see yet another one in my email, I will unsubscribe.

We wrote about topics other than Delta in the past few weeks since the SkyMiles 2025 news broke. I get the impression you haven’t been a longtime reader — and never seen our posts complimenting Delta on some of their fine staff and great lounges.

You will see more honest posts that both praise and are critical of Delta.

You might as well unsubscribe now. We wish you all the best.

Ironic that you write that at the end of a “Delta not into you” rant.
    Consider me gone.

@Terry – I recommend TPG but even they who adore Delta has gone negative regarding recent destruction of loyalty .

      @Terry(If you’re not already unsubscribed),
Check your dates from/to ATL. Delta is ALWAYS higher, whether you advance purchase or last minute purchase.
Secondly, “professionalism” has been lacking ever since Delta had the early outs during COVID-19. I’m flying out almost every week if not twice on my “own” dime and your interpretation of “schedule” is different than mine. I’ve never experienced so many maintenance delays/cancellations on the B757-200/300. Medallion Desk has to be spoon feed on how to resolve IROPS.
Lastly, Chris and Rene have been GODsends for me for all my travel needs and wants.
Oh, I’m a “free agent” now, so maybe you can get my upgrades to/from ATL as a Platinum.

Oh wao .. from a Platinum DL status gal (NOT 20 YRS though 🙂 )and an ATL based as well, I think its soothing when you write your honest opinions and also give us the gist of whats going on.. Yes it has been painful with what delta did .. Please keep giving us whats happening per Delta.. and yes some of us like the rant … we are not just ready yet to accept .. so this therapeutic blogs help, bring them on @Chris and Rene… Seriously Delta did badly and they need to be told!! and the more they hear it, maybe they can make some significant changes . Terry you are not correct..Delta is always the higher priced on almost all flights. Thanks @chris and @Rene for giving us all of the facts and fine print-we would not ordinarily get from DL peeps….

Yes, I’m a DL Platinum that frequently flies to a DL hub; nevertheless, I will not submit to Stockholm Syndrome. To have my loyalty through the pandemic treated as ripping off the bandaid was so shockig that it snapped me right out of Stockholm Syndrome with DL.

Delta and Amex have made me a free agent. I’ve applied for other credit cards and airline programs.

The Delta police just attacked current MQD Waivers.

BEWARE: If you cancel your SM American Express Plat or Res – Delta resets your MQD Waiver to ZERO. That’s right, even if you have well passed the $25k Waiver level, you lose the Waiver. Thought you were going to be safe for next year, think again! Be very careful of your timing if you intend to cancel the card. There are NO stated Terms & Conditions regarding an earned Waiver going away, but they’ve nonetheless taken the position that without a valid Plat/Res AmEx you are no longer worthy of the Waiver you earned.

According to a Delta spokesperson, that’s not supposed to be the case. Did this happen to you?
