The Plaza Premium Lounge Vancouver (A Priority Pass Lounge)

Delta Air Lines Passengers: Flying to the USA Cannot Access the SkyTeam Lounge in Terminal D

On my return from my so amazingly fun Alaskan cruise last month, I got off the ship in Vancouver and flew home from there.

I really wanted to visit the SkyTeam lounge. It looks fantastic — but sadly Vancouver (YVR) is a US pre-clearance flight. That means you clear US customs before your flight and don’t have to do so again once you land in the US, I could not get access to terminal D (I really tried too). So, my only club choice was the Plaza Premium Lounge that recently rejoined Priority Pass.

The club is right across from gate E88 and near gates Delta Air Lines uses.

During my visit in May 2023, the lounge had not yet rejoined Priority Pass but I got in free with my card_name. (If you’re curious about the card, read up on Chris said it’s some of the best advice I’ve ever given him and how to earn back the card’s annual fee. card_name, of course.)

This is a very small club: basically, one room side divided by the bar. Speaking of the bar:

You are very limited on what adult beverages you can enjoy as complimentary offerings.

But there is a coffee machine and soda station as well as juices in the cooler.

We arrived just before lunch and the hot breakfast options are very close to what you can expect from any budget hotel: Scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage links. Nothing to get excited about but functional in a pinch.

Lunch was a bit better:

I chose a very tiny plate just to sample since I was, after all, about to have a nice lunch on my Delta flight back home.

Or, so I thought.

Had I known what was in store for me on my first class ride, I would have had a real lunch plate as it was quite OK .

Views from the club look inside of the airport. That’s a shame for us AVgeeks. We miss out on jet spotting, compared to the stunning new Chicago Sky Club I visited on the way to Alaska.

Overall an OK but small and limited club. While not directly the club’s fault, I still do not understand folks like the idiot you see above who plopped down and proceeded to have a video call on full loudspeaker mode for all to “enjoy”? – René

Going there in about an hour. Just off the Celeb Millennium for 14 days. Were you on the Sun or Spirit. I saw both of those while cruising.

In the lounge now. Pretty nice. Food ok. The Ontario lounge is the best if you get a chance to pass through there

When did it rejoin? I flew out June 2, 2023 and they said Priority Pass was not accepted.

Just a sleek, renovated disaster if you want to get some work done. The dowdy dark old lounge was better in having a few private spaces with doors and oddly had bettee, more comfortable seating. Now bright and larger, but actually less functional and much louder. If you are just keen on free mediocre food and drink, it is fine, but basically just a big crowded cafe.
