Several travel-related stories caught my eye and I wanted to share them with you as we head into the weekend.

Year of the Airport Lounge?

Condé Nast Traveler’s Carly Helfand penned an interesting piece saying that this will be the “Year of the Airport Lounge.”

She points out several lounges opening across the US: Centurions in Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Capital One lounges at Dulles and Denver. Chase, Delta, and American all plan to open clubs at various airports.

But let’s also keep in mind that American Express Centurion Lounge guest policies change next month. Delta implements some big changes, too.

What do you think? Will this be the Year of the Airport Lounge — in a positive way?

Delta to Fly to The Land of the Long White Cloud

Finally. An inaugural trip I can do from one of my home airports!

Are Mask Mandates Coming Back?

As President Joe Biden himself would say, “C’mon, man!” But mask mandates — or the ability for the CDC to enforce them — may return.

Wanna Be a Flight Attendant — for Netflix?

Have you ever wanted to be a flight attendant but not deal with hundreds of human cargo?

You’re in luck! Instead of snotty little brats in coach, you can deal with Hollywood executives and celebrities! Netflix is looking for a flight attendant to work its private jet.

Chase Sapphire Lounge at Sundance

While we’re talking about the entertainment industry, Chase passed along that they’re hosting Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® at the Chase Sapphire on Main during this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

      •  Sapphire Reserve cardmembers will have special access to the Sapphire Lounge featuring an espresso bar with brunch bites, live music and rotating culinary dishes, including a takeover by Chef Melissa King, known from Top Chef, as well as a dedicated dining concierge with The Infatuation to help secure hard to get dinner reservations [Available daily]
    • Q&A panels with actors and filmmakers: See the stars and get an inside look at the most buzzworthy films of the festival during Q&A panels. [Available daily at 11:30am]
    • Musical experiences: When not enjoying the world class cinema Sundance has to offer, cardmembers can experience an evening with Anderson .Paak at the Chase Sound Check at TAO Park City. [Friday, Jan. 20th; further details forthcoming]
    • Dedicated box office lines and perks: Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Preferred Cardmembers can get quick access to their tickets through a priority line at the Sundance box office. [through January 28th from 8am – 7pm; January . 29th from 8am – 2pm]

Almost One Million SkyMiles to Fly Delta One to New Zealand?

And they’re almost all overcrowded. Stop shilling these premium credit cards just because you get a fat commission. Tell the truth about the Delta AmEx Reserve and the insane lines to enter Delta SkyClubs. It’s time you earn some credibility now that it appears your partner Pepe has moved on. He’s a lost cause

      Oh, honey.

First, you have no idea how much or little we earn on commissions. You’d be surprised.

Second — and speaking of lost causes – if you don’t like our site, why do you even read it? You’re like my family members who are Democrats or Republicans yet constantly watch Fox News or MSNBC (respectively) just to whine.

      We’ve talked about overcrowding.

If you’re that upset, why not tell Amex to drop Sky Club access from the Platinum Card?

Finally, this blog has its biggest numbers ever last year. We’re not at all worried about our credibility.

René and I are working together on both Frequent Floaters and this blog. And why would a lost cause move on? Wouldn’t a lost cause stay right where it’s at?

      With that, good afternoon.

I have the reserve card for multiple benefits. The free delta club access is just one of them. My home airport is Minneapolis and have never waited in line to get in. I have seen lines when I have exited, but never very long.

My seat mate on a flight last weekend was an Atlanta Delta executive. She said Ed Bastian has told his employees they will not see him, his wife, or his children in Sky Clubs until Delta can get ahold of the overcrowding. I said, “Wow. He’s even making his KIDS wear disguises.” She said, “Some people are still wearing masks, so it’ll be easy.”
