Reminder: Delta Diamond & Platinum Medallions Pick 2022 Choice Benefits by January 31st

This is just a friendly reminder for those of you who qualified for either Platinum or Diamond Medallion Choice Benefits for last year — that is the 2022 Medallion year.

Just to be clear, as this is always a confusing topic for elites we are talking the 2022 elite year that you earned by flying in 2021 i.e. NOT flying last year. If you earned Medallion status flying last year for the 2023 Medallion year (like me in the screen shot above) you have until NEXT JANUARY 31st of 2024 to claim your benefits.

So log in to Delta.com and take a look if you have harvested all your perks. Diamonds remember you get BOTH Platinum and Diamond perks and check the updated the rules for expiration of the perks that have been updated.

Also keep in mind NOT to pick benefits, like gifting elite status to someone, as they expire on 1 February 2023 so you would only be giving them status for a few weeks and thus rather pointless.

If you are confused about any of this feel free to comment below and Chris or I will help you out! – René

Hey guys, just to be sure. I have choice benefits that say “2022 Platinum”. If I select “Four Regional Upgrade Certificates” they would expire in about 3 weeks? January 31, 2023?

    Thanks!

    Ed

@Ed – Per the Delta CB page it says: “Effective February 1, 2022 all newly selected Regional Upgrade Certificates will expire at the end of the Medallion Year associated with that Choice Benefit selection.” So, unless you can burn them fast you may want to look at other choices (I have a feeling a lot will be picking Skymiles bonus).

I cannot get to the choice benefits page. I’ve tried both on my mobile app and on the Delta website. Any suggestions?

The other day I tried to edit a payment method, and I had to go out of chrome and into firefox to do it. Is Delta not supported on chrome? Is that possibly the reason for my problem above?

Also, if I am a platinum medallion holding the Delta Reserve card, but I paid for my domestic flight with my Delta platinum card, does that mean I cannot access the Delta lounge before that flight?

Thanks, everyone, for your responses in advance!

@Marie – I just logged in to the CB page on Delta.com using Chrome. I would clear cookies etc or try private browser.

What card you pay for your Delta flight with has zero impact on access to Delta Sky Clubs. If you have your Reserve card in your profile you should just have to scan boarding pass and you are in but we are talking Delta IT here so have your card to scan just in case.

I thought RUC’s were good for 1 year.
So today I chose my 2022 RUC as a platinum and discovered they expire in 2 weeks at 1/31/23.
Now I gotta call and see if they’ll reverse it.
    Ouch.

They expire during that particular Medallion year. Let us know what happens.

Pleased to report that Delta agreed to void my 2022 RUC selection (since they expire in 2 weeks) and allow me to reselect my 2022 Choice Benefit. So opted for 20k miles. Thanks for the reminder,

I am missing my platinum 2023 but I have my diamond 2023. I am going to call to see what happened to the platinum one.

Weird. Did you already redeem it early last year and just forget about it? (Not that I’ve ever done that or would know about such a thing. Not me. Nope. 😉 )

Please let us know what happens!

Lots of folks had their status carried over again in 2022. Although one kept their status, they did not give out the benefits associated with the status if it was not earned. Good on Delta for doing this, American took my status and zeroed my miles.

I earned diamond 2021, 2022 and 2023. The call kept dropping but it appeared after a while. I now have both platinum and diamond for 2023 and enough mqm to qualify for diamond until 2026!

I am new to medallion status, I am platinum have until 1/31/2024 to pick. If I pick now will I have one year to use? Also if I pick RUC and want to use it for first class upgrade do I have to pay for delta comfort as it is a one class upgrade? Thanks in advance. I have learned a lot from this blog, but am still learning.

Hi, Kristina — you’ll have a year to use them. You can book Main Cabin and upgrade to First Class. The only exceptions might be some flights from the US to Hawaii that feature Delta One (and not all do).

As I was told by Delta, you no longer have 1 year to use your RUC. The 2023 RUC benefit RUC’s will expire 1/31/24

I thought that Platinum would be able to choose 2 people for silver medallion but I was only able to choose 1. Can I choose the 2nd person after February 1?

I also stupidly selected RUCs Friday and realized my mistake today. I called Delta, and the Diamond rep stated that nothing could be done. Then I tried messaging, and the rep was able to help me. She stated that she spent a good portion of today helping people undo their CB selection of RUCs and GUCs.

It might be 48-72 hours before I am able to select 20,000 SkyMiles, but the rep stated that I will have more time. I should have read this post and the comments more closely before making my CB selection.

BTW, I never get emails about follow-up comments or new posts, even though I check the boxes when I leave a reply. I also check my SPAM folder. Is this feature broken or am I doing something wrong?

I qualified for Diamond in 2022, while having Platinum throughout most of 2022 (I hit $15k MQD in Dec 2022). I’m interested in claiming the RUCs as my choice benefit. Should I just wait until Feb 1?

@Aaron – You can pick them when you want. I have already used my 2023 Platinum RUCs months ago.
