This is such a strange and odd year. I started my year with two MAD mileage runs that I booked back when I thought this horrid plague would be over and done with everyone getting vaccinated (we know how that turned out – thanks unvaxed). I had expected to be back to full time travel again this year but have now found myself home all summer. I am looking forward to my next booster shot and one that is targeted to hopefully help me keep my COVID-free record going and plan for my flu shot in a few weeks.
Being a Delta flyer I love the Fly Delta App to be able to track any luggage I have checked and there have over the past many years been very very few times I have had any issues. Yes, back before the Amazon days, my bag coming back from Sweden that was full of tins of Twinning’s Earl Gray tea would almost always come a day late due to customs taking a close look and Delta delivering it the next day to my home – irritating but no big deal.
As already mentioned this year is different. I have, as usual, re-upped my Allianz yearly blanket travel insurance to cover what will be a busy fall and winter travel schedule but I also took another step I would never have considered before, that is, getting a 4 pack of TILE bag trackers to make sure I know where my bags are when I am out and about.

First things first, the reason I got these are not just for the tracking perk but also because I had some Amex Dell credits from my Amex Business Platinum card for the second half of the year (check out this great welcome offer for the Amex Business Platinum Card).
While TILE does offer a fee free option I chose the premium plan for $29.99 per year for unlimited devices getting me a bunch more perks as well as free battery yearly replacement.
Activation was simple and finding my devices took only seconds. I will be putting two on my stock big travel bags and two on my and Lisa’s back packs.
I intend to affix the with something very strong, that is, these barrel clips and will use a dot of super glue to keep them closed once on (that way fixed but removable with force if I need to).

Sadly with the number of luggage nightmares we have seen over the past year this I think is a very smart move to make to help me find what I need when traveling if things go wrong. That and the fact that I got them refunded by my Amex Platinum Business card (link to learn more) made this another simple choice for peace of mind as I expand the airlines I am flying outside of good old Delta! – René

René, will the Tile’s not work inside the luggage? I know that’s what a lot of us have been doing with the Apple AirTags. I haven’t noticed a decline in performance.
@DLPTATL – They should yes. I will test both inside and outside.
Do you really trust having them outside your bag. My brag tags disappear about every three or four flights.
@Jack – The reason for superglue on barrel 🙂
Goddag! I am on the Dell site and can’t find a four pack of these. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? And did you buy the Premium package from Dell or from Tile? Thank you very much.
@Jim – They only sell them 1 at a time but you can add 4 (or more) to your cart. Search for “tile pro tracker”. Once you get the devices you can then activate them and setup your Premium account (not part of Dell).
Not true. I purchased a 4-pack of Tile Pro trackers directly from Tile for about $70 just two weeks ago. And yes, they came in one package as a set. We are traveling to Spain (also on Delta) in two weeks and wanted the added security, especially on the trains.
@TimmyB – We are talking from Dell for Amex Platinum Business credits. They only sell 1x
Got it. Sorry for the confusion.
@TimmyB – No worries. Wise IMO to buy trackers in these crazy times!
Do these have long enough range to track your bags if they are lost. Track them from another country? The range seems to short to work for lost luggage.
@Amber – Worldwide tracking.
You can buy on Ebay pack of 4 free ship.
They do work inside luggage. Very easy to setup.
@Tony – Ebay does not qualify for the Business Platinum Dell credits.
Fully understand that. I just shared another supply source.
