Updated, August 27, 1:35 AM EDT: The problem seems to be resolved and spending totals are repopulating. Given that the Delta Amex MQD Waiver is a big feature of the cobranded cards, here’s hoping the respective IT departments make sure this issue is fixed for good.
Updated, August 26, 5:48 PM EDT: Delta Air Lines got back to us about the Amex MQD Waiver issue that popped up yesterday (see below for more details).
A Delta spokesperson told Eye of the Flyer: “We are aware of the issue causing the American Express Card Spend field in the SkyMiles status tracker to show $0. Our IT team has identified the cause and is working to resolve this as soon as possible. Medallion Status is not impacted and eligible purchases will continue to count toward earning future status.”
So, it sounds like everything will work out. We assumed (hoped) it would. But we’ll be more comfortable when the MQD waiver sliders are back to their correct figures. (Yes, we’re aware this is a #FirstWorldProblem.)

You may notice something alarming when you log in to your Delta SkyMiles account on Delta.com and the Fly Delta app.
If you spent any money this year on a Delta American Express card, your Delta MQD Waiver figures are likely reset to $0.
I checked with several friends and family members with Delta Amex cards. Their accounts all reflect no spending.
But here’s what we found especially alarming. I logged on to Delta.com and checked my SkyMiles account’s raw data using this link. (We found Firefox is the browser that plays most nicely with this tool.) My Delta Amex card spend is reset to “0” in in the result.
Yikes.
I logged into my American Express account and the Status Boost spending tracker still displays a fairly accurate number. It has not reset to $0. (Yet…)
A reader sent us this screenshot and said, “Last time I checked there was over $150,000 being reported.”
That made my stomach hurt on his behalf.
Any Immediate Effects?
Hopefully, this problem will resolve itself in the next few hours. (Keyword: “hopefully.”) Delta must have backups somewhere. Right?
But keep in mind that reaching the $25,000 Delta Amex MQD Spend Waiver serves as a tie-breaker in Delta’s complimentary upgrade hierarchy. So, based on our research, it’s possible some people who spent $25,000 across their Delta Amex portfolio could miss out on some upgrades today and possibly during the next few days, depending on how long this issue exists.
We contacted Delta for comment and will update this post when/if we hear back.

Maybe they are phasing in the fix, but it’s still not fixed on my account as of 7pm on Aug 27.

Not fixed for me as of November 3rd. Amex told me through a chat that the amounts will update at the end of each billing cycle. Not really the answer I wanted to hear and I’m not certain that it’s even correct but that’s what I was told.
That’s not correct as far as I see. Mine updated today without it being the end of cycle. If you are relying on making status though, use your Amex statements. That having been said, my last Platinum statement didn’t include the miles for eligible spending. I hope that’s not the new normal.

I am currently Diamond. Not fixed for me either. I keep checking.
I have looked several times on my App daily as I am currently traveling through Delta and it has not fixed for me. I just made a big purchase on my A\E Delta card and am waiting to see that spend upgrade me to the Silver level. But nothing so far.

Silver medallion, still reading $0. I got the status post so I know it should be reading $25,000 at a min. I hope it’s fixed before I fly to London next week because that flight will push me to gold medallion and I want to use the Heathrow lounge on the way back, lol.
I believe you need to be Platinum or Diamond level to access the lounge at Heathrow

Mine still is not fixed on 8/30
It’s a little unclear if its free or paid access but the fee is less than I’d pay eating and drinking in the airport on my own before the flight so I’m cool either way.

Not fixed for me either. Delta said it can take 6 to 8 weeks to update. I call BS on that one. My Amex acct had me at over 90k in spend until I hit the last MQM bonus and now the counter on the account is gone. I don’t know who to complain to to get it fixed before I purchase my overseas tickets.

Precisely! I hope nobody that has earned the status is going let a glitch stop them from getting what they deserve! It’s amazing what customer service agents can do. I had one fix an issue recently, early on a Sunday, where a RUC and GUC had mistakenly both been pulled for the same outbound trip.
I am currently Silver… My Card Spend on Amex is over 25k and will put me to Silver. It has shown as 0 in the Delta App all year long.
Anyone know who to contact at Delta to get this updated asap?
I’d start with the Medallion reps.
I’ve spoken to Delta several times and they blame Amex even though it is THEIR Delta app. On another site I found that it said you only will incur card spend showing if you have the Platinum or Reserve Delta Amex card. So I recently upgrade from my Delta Gold Amex to Delta Platinum card so we’ll see. Still shows $0 for now. I’m stumped.
