This isn’t exactly fortuitous timing. A day after Delta Air Lines announced the purchase of one hundred 737 MAX aircraft, one of the carrier’s 737-900 planes reportedly lost two tires after landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). KCAL and KCBS said that DL515 from Atlanta (ATL) to LAX lost two tires upon landing at LAX.

KCAL said Delta told them passengers were boarded on buses and taken to a terminal at LAX.

DL0515 thanks @Delta way to keep those planes in good shape! #wheelissues pic.twitter.com/8cCNCp66dO

You are right, the timing is awful. As a religious person I don’t consider that I can change my fate by choosing which type of plane to fly on, and even if I could, the chances of anything happening are minimal based on the number of 737s that land safely. I will point out thought that 737 issues go back way before the MAX was around.

Tires can be lost for myriad reasons, I fail to see any plane or maintenance concerns here. The plane was not lost and there were no deaths. The fact that they agreed to purchase more planes is completely irrelevant. Wait for the RCA before placing any judgements.

This aircraft design is ancient. The first flight was over 55 years ago in 1967 !!
    Time for something new ..

Delta literally just bought 100 planes with a half a century old design. (and will be 60 – 70 years old before they take delivery)
