Airline flight diversions aren’t exactly unheard of. (Weather problems, onboard medical emergencies, and rowdy passengers are generally the root causes.)
But here’s something you don’t hear often: a cruise ship was diverted late into the sailing. Why? Well, it seems there was an arrest warrant waiting for the boat in the United States.
The Crystal Symphony ended its two-week trek around the Caribbean in the Bahamas instead of Miami. It’s been reported that Genting Hong Kong Ltd., which operates the ship, owes several million dollars in unpaid fuel bills.
Oops.
Fox News reports that affected passengers are being ferried back to Miami.
Meanwhile, I hope you don’t have any Crystal cruises booked.

Calling All Unemployed Pilots!
If you’re an out-of-work airline captain or first officer, Avelo Airlines might be very interested in hiring you. And they may even give you a $20,000 hiring bonus.

I’m picturing the wanted poster: Wanted, Dead or Alive, Crystal Symphony Cruise Ship, 84,000 tons, white paint. Last seen in Bahamian waters. Please deliver to Port of Miami. $1,000,000 reward!
That’s funny! Nicely done, Christian!
Note to self: cancel planned February Crystal Cruises sailing. Thanks for the heads up Eye of the Flyer.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
