Totals and results (was it worth it)?

This was a tight connection and we just made it. I mean we had time to visit the bathroom and then we boarded. If there had been long lines at customs we would have been working to find space on the next flight from Mexico City to Orlando and likely that would have been in coach. Not that it would have been much worse than the business class experience on this Skyteam partner. Allow me to illustrate in a few photos.

The seats on this 737-700 were old. I mean really old. I was looking forward to the very nice 737 with new seats we had on the way over (it had 4 rows in business class) vs this one that had only 3 rows. Again, I cannot stress enough how bad this seat was.

The padding in the back was so bad or missing or just gone that it felt like I had two metal rails stabbing me in my back. The funky lumbar support, that you had to manually pump to inflate and then push on to deflate, did not make it any better.

As far as space – well – there was not much to speak of. Again, I just cannot ever believe anyone would willingly pay retail for this seat and experience. Then there was lunch.

AeroMexico 737-700 mex-mco review business class renespoints blog (4)

This was the 3rd croissant lunch / dinner / overnight meal that we were presented with. The only difference was either hot for lunch from MEX or cold for dinner from MCO. Really disappointing.

There was no Gogo as we were over water most of the time and this bird was clearly so old that it likely will never have Gogo anyway. But the views were nice out the window.

As well as the view arriving at the Florida coast. At least when there is no power, no IFE, and an uncomfortable seat, you can look out and marvel at the world below you!

So with one good flight to start, then a poor (and scary) regional experience, and a really bad final mainline flight home, was it all worth it? And what about the points since that was the point of this run to collect MQMs and even a bunch of SkyMiles since it was distance and fare class based from the Group 1 Delta partner. Did it work out? There were some issues and that is up next! – René

After my run, I never want to see a ham and cheese sandwich again. Luckily, they switched out the old 737-700 for the new 737-800 and I enjoyed the last flight (though it was also delayed). Looking forward to seeing how the points turn out.

Is this review about MCO to MEX or MEX to MCO?

I thought you already reported on MCO to MEX…

I think the title of the article is wrong…

Delta seems to have a lot of the “bottom of the barrel” airlines as their partners. Look at this ranking of the 100 best airlines and note where Delta partners AeroMexico, China Eastern, and Kenyan Airways rank. http://www.worldairlineawards.com/Awards/world_airline_rating.html
