After departing THE CLUB at MCO (and maybe a short visit to the XpresSpa) it was time to take the tram back, clear security quickly again (thanks to CLEAR) and then take another tram out to our AeroMexico (AM) gate.

Unlike our beloved Delta, AM does try to have some short boarding lanes but with limited gate space you can only do so much. Our group was the first one on-board after some older folks and kids.

This was either a reasonably new bird or an upgraded bird including split scimitar winglets. AVgeek kool right?

We were offered water or orange juice in real glass as a pre-flight beverage. I did not ask about other drinks but they were not offered as a data point.

The seats felt very Delta familiar with a few upgrades. The cabin included four rows of business class seating.

What was different from the Delta seats was the “snake light” attached to the seats. I get the reason for these but find them mostly annoying. Maybe it is just me. Also different was a foot rest that came out part way. Nice for sleeping flights.

The IFE was huge and had a great selection. It did tilt but so little that it was to the point of not really being all that useful.

Shortly after climbing out and clearing some showers in the area, the business class FA came through with a cart for drink service.

In addition to one red wine and one white wine choice mixed drinks and cold nuts were presented. They were a good snack, but I got really somewhat sick of them by the last flight. They were also HEAVILY salted so if that bothers you avoid these.

After about another half an hour dinner was presented that was a cold turkey sandwich on a croissant with a side pickle that was strangely cut into some kind of art type form (tasted fine either way). The salad was somewhat boring but was fresh. Dessert was a bit on the non sweet side with a sponge cake and fruit layer inside. Overall a decent if not exciting dinner (but more of a lunch).

About an hour before landing we were given two customs forms to fill out. As mentioned in the previous post, I would get two sets of these as you will need the same ones to enter Mexico again after your flight from Santo Domingo SDQ airport. Simpler to do both when you are fresh, just make sure you hand the right ones to the customs people when you land the first time.

Overall the flight was just quite good. Service was equally good but not exceptional. As you will see this flight was the highlight of the trip as it really was downhill from here on out.

After landing, and clearing passport control, we found the second customs point and exited into the terminal and took the escalators up one floor and went right back to security screening and found the Skyteam Priority line that was short at this time of night.

Next up we made our way one more floor up to the AM Skyteam lounge but more on that in the next post! – René

Too bad the 737-800 isn’t the bird used on the last leg back to MCO! Looking forward to seeing your other reviews for this. Do you think it’s safe (points/MQM will post) to go ahead and book positioning flights for this? I’m doing it in less than 2 weeks.

@Christian – As mentioned in post one, points are as expected. Just make sure you have the DL FF number on each boarding pass and KEEP THEM!
