No More Delta One on 757s?

Have you heard that Delta Air Lines is removing lie-flat Delta One seats on some of its 757 aircraft?

A New Delta One Option?

Speculation that Delta is ditching its 757 Delta One product has circulated for years. This week, there was  this Reddit post saying:

From an internal posting, Delta is reconfiguring 13 75S to the 75G configuration removing the lie flat seats. The new configuration will be 20 F, 53 C+, and 120 economy.

The post features an image from the interior retrofits Delta announced in October.

In the photos Delta provided us, the image’s name is “Delta_Cabin_Refresh_240425_75S-to-G_View_2B_First_Class.”

Delta’s 757-200S (75S) configuration currently features Delta One.

The 757-200G (75G) planes feature the domestic First Class we all know.

a seat with a screen on the side and a bottle of water on the side

The 75S operates transcontinental routes such as Los Angeles to Boston and Los Angeles to Ronald Reagan Washington National. They also fly some shorter, seasonal transoceanic hops to Keflavik (Iceland) and Shannon (Ireland).

A Delta spokesperson confirmed to us late yesterday, “We are gradually retrofitting 75S to 75G configuration, including an improved First-Class seat with a new bottom cushion. We look forward to sharing more soon.”

How about that?! A new bottom cushion! If you’ve ridden on the A321neo, you know what great news this is.

But if the Delta One 757s go away, what will replace them?

The neo-est Thing

Enter the A321neo aircraft. A seat map — allegedly from Delta Tech Ops — featuring Delta One on the A321neo found its way to Reddit three years ago. There’s even Delta Premium Select on the map, too. One Mile at a Time wrote about this last year, too.

The A321neo Delta One lie-flat product appears to have eight rows, with one seat on either side. My guess is that they’ll be seats similar to the one below, but angled toward the window:

I’d like to take this opportunity to whine (again) how much I dislike the new Delta interior colors.

I really like the classic blue and red we see in the planes right now. It reflects the Delta brand. The black (or dark, dark, dark blue?) seats with a thin, red trim are nothing special. I think I saw close to the same thing when I flew to American Airlines and Air France.

Final Approach

Delta’s 757 fleet will apparently no longer feature some aircraft with Delta One. Speculation — pretty much an open secret at this point — is that those routes and maybe more — will be filled with some A32neos featuring Delta One.

What do you think of this?

UPDATE: Delta Air Lines has posted a video on Twitter of the Delta One Seats being removed. See below:

What a HUGE downgrade!
