Sunday is quiet time. Even when I am in the air, it seems like quiet time. And I tend to get nostalgic now and then. I mean, when you look back to travel experiences of the past what do you remember?
I bet some young readers have never had a paper tickets that was to be guarded with one’s very life lest they be lost or stolen.
For me, on of the best shows on earth (literally) is the endless hours of entertainment consisting of staring out a window watching clouds sail past.
KLM on their Facebook page had an old school photo that showed the time when you HAD TO dress up for air-travel since it was such a fancy way to get from here to there.
Remember the days when we were unencumbered by all of today’s gadgets – laptops, tablets, phones, ipods, earbuds and did not spend our time power stalking like “bats” needing to suck energy from some outlet somewhere!
Things certainly have changed, in some ways good and in some ways bad. E-Tickets – WAY simpler! When it comes to dress, I get that society as a whole has become a much more casual environment, which I think is fine but I miss it in some ways. I’d still prefer we not go to the point of “bunny feet pajamas” as acceptable attire for travel though. While I like IFE (when it works) I like even better having my own selections ready to go on my laptop or tablet which I happily drag along with me in my handy, wheeled computer bag!
Did you know our beloved Delta was the first to offer in-flight power sources in 1996, enabling us to work to our heart’s content or keep our children (or ourselves) entertained for the duration of the flight! A few days after making the power sources available, Delta tried rolling out live TV programming. While this didn’t prove to be as successful as it did with JetBlue, we do have in-flight Wi-Fi that I personally appreciate even more!
