It is time for me to start flying again and I have a reasonably busy schedule booked with a number of additional fun things cooking (hint hint). To get anywhere from South Bend normally means an early morning flight and breakfast in the Delta Sky Club.
You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

Delta has been slowly refreshing Detroit’s main central A concourse Sky Club over the past few years. All the old chairs (that were horrid) are gone.
One of my favorite spots to get away from crowds in the club is back behind the showers and lavatories and they have even installed a Centurion-like large conference table and some quirky individual pod seats (they did not look very comfortable watching some use them).
Let’s get back to the point of today’s post that is the current breakfast offerings.
In the food service area, the main area has all the cold offerings including on the end warm biscuits and sausage gravy. Despite the steady flow of traffic the staff really did an outstanding job keeping it clean and looking presentable.
On the back wall were warm choices including Chicken Apple sausages, spinach and feta frittata and potatoes. Across from the staffed bar breads and pre-made waffles.
Overall, the quality was acceptable and a small step up from a Holiday Inn Express offering but nothing to get excited about. I dislike the ultra mini paper plates and plastic utensils (strangely at the mini satellite club – review here – across the hall they had real plates).
What do you think of the current Delta Sky Club breakfast offerings? – Rene

This looks significantly better than the AMEX Centurion offerings:(
@Rene, Anything non-meat, non-dairy, non-sugary, non-refined/non-processed?
@anon – Water and fruit work for you?
Lol… Yeah. It’s weak, though.
I hear soaking the fruit in rum or vodka can be fun. And adding some bourbon to water is always a favorite with many of our readers. 😉
@Chris – Sky Club “jungle juice”? Thus we are all college kids again?
Sounds like fun, right?
I have not seen the cheese and meat items yet or the biscuits but usually go thru Atlanta vs Detroit!
Are the hot breakfast foods served right from opening? I”m taking a redeye for the first time in a while, with my connection at MSP roughly in the 5-7am range. I know the club will be open, but I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to grab something there, or if I’d need to forage in the terminal.
@Scott – Depends on distance. How many miles?
Oh I just meant in the club–I know I won’t be getting anything on the flight (that’s partly why I’m curious…)
@Scott – Oh sorry. As soon as open breakfast should be available.
Awesome–thanks!
