Here’s something we found interesting.
René just returned from an epic, back-to-back JFK to Madrid AeroMexico business class mileage run week.
“Hey, buddy,” he said during a phone call to me upon his return. “Guess what kind of amenity kit I got on my AeroMexico flights?”
That’s a Delta Premium Select Tumi amenity kit — in AeroMexico business class. (Delta owns a stake in AeroMexico.)
Now, it’s good Delta found a home for its surplus Tumi kits — as opposed to just throwing them in the garbage. But I hope that Delta Premium Select passengers aren’t missing out on their kits because Delta’s shipping them south of the border. (#FirstWorldProblems, I know.)
After all, reader Mel told us:
Our last Delta round trip to Peru last September only provided these kits on the way to Peru. The trip back only provided us with Comfort Plus paper kits. I was disappointed to see those in Delta One, but my husband was heartbroken. Lol. I made a funny comment about the paper kits, and the flight attendant was not amused, and confessed that Delta has plenty of the Tumi kits in Atlanta but never sends enough kits for the return trips…
Remember that Delta recently announced a switch to “more sustainable” amenity kits for its Delta One product. They’re going with Mexican-made Someone Somewhere kits. This leads to me wonder if AeroMexico (you know, a Mexican company) will also get hand-me-down Delta Someone Somwhere kits. Or if they’ll commission some with their own branding from Someone Somewhere or a different company.
A previous edition of this post misidentified the kit as a Delta One amenity kit. Hat tip to reader Jim A for alerting us to the error.
