We’re getting to the time of year when great, publicly available mileage runs become somewhat scarce. (Remember that Juicy Miles always has some tricks up their sleeve and creates customized mileage runs.)
Plus, Delta’s fantastic Status Accelerator promotion ends on December 31.
So the pickings are starting to get slim — and we have to take what we can get!
With that in mind, if you really need some MQM before year-end — or beef up your stockpile for next year — check out this Las Vegas to Paris weekend mini-vacation/mileage run from Friday, December 10 – Sunday, December 12.
It’s a Main Cabin trip. That’s the downer. But there are several appealing aspects:
- It has an overnight in Paris!
- You can enjoy a full evening in Paris and get a decent night’s sleep before your 11 AM departure from CDG.
- Remember that it’s Christmas market season!
- Good MQM earnings for the price
- The trip currently costs $736.17 but yields 16,219 MQM. That’s 4.6 CPMQM. Nothing earth-shattering, to be sure. But considering this is a weekend trip to/from Europe late in the year, it’s better than a kick to the head.
- Decent positioning options
- Even if you don’t live in Vegas, you can probably position there that morning from many Delta destinations. Same with your return on Sunday. Your ATL-LAS flight arrives at 6:24 PM. West Coasters have a bunch of options to get home before too late. (Don’t forget Southwest! I’ve used them for several positioning trips during mileage runs.) People back East will likely have to take red-eyes that night. Time and cost may be prohibitive. But it may work for your schedule and budget, who knows.
- Or you could stay in Vegas before and/or after — at the Paris Las Vegas! 😉
- All widebody aircraft — even on the domestic legs
- So your chances of snagging a good seat if you’re a Medallion member are pretty good.
- Burn those Global Upgrade certificates?
- I didn’t check GUC inventory. But before those go to hell next year, you might want to see if there’s something you can do with them on this trip.

Here’s the itinerary:
As of this post, France requires that passengers from the US present proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
“But I Need MQD Runs! Or Something From My Home Airport! Why Can’t You Publish Something that Works for ME?!”
If only it were that easy.
Actually, it kind of is.
See, we post whatever we can find. But the mileage run department travel booking service Juicy Miles will create whatever kind of run you want. (Yes. They have an entire department devoted to nothing but building custom mileage runs for people!)
So get in touch with them now and see how they can help you!

Chris,
That price might have been an error. Just went on DL sight and couldn’t find it.
Thanks,
Sandy
Try using Google Flights. Here’s a link.
Thanks Chris. I realized I was doing a Saturday/Sunday combo. What a great mileage run. Just enough time to do some shopping, get some pastries and head home. Thanks!
It’s still there for December and also through March. A lot of dates are available. Try Google flights first but it was available on Delta.com when I just looked.
If only Delta had the Status Accelerator in effect during 2022 (le sigh)
Requirements for a covid test for the return entry in the US?
Negative test 72 hours prior to departure flight back to the US.
So using sample itinerary, you could get tested in US before leaving on the afternoon of the 9th, or in Paris the afternoon you arrive? Or can you use a do it yourself test?
@Carol-
I work with Juicy Miles; a Mileage Run service, and we deal with these types of questions all the time. We have thousands of clients and many are flying during this holiday travel season.
If you are fully vaccinated, you need a COVID test to return to the United States (taken within three days.) How that works practically is if your itinerary has you arriving in the US via one or more connecting flights, your test can be taken within the 3 days before the departure of the first flight.
That means (in this example itinerary) a test taken on Thursday, December 9th would allow you to board your Sunday return flight with no further testing. A test done Friday morning would also work.
You can use a self-test (sometimes referred to as home test) that meets certain criteria (found at the CDC’s website.)
If you are not fully vaccinated, you will need a test taken within one day of boarding that first flight; not always the easiest thing to do, and certainly an extra step when doing an efficient Mileage Run.
At Juicy Miles, we know there are a lot of moving parts to putting together Mileage Runs in the current travel environment. We’d love to help any Eye of the Flyer readers (plus friends, family and colleagues) get the Medallion earnings they need.
It’s as simple as submitting a quick request form.
Thanks so much. That’s as clear as can be! Altho fully vaccinated, I’ve been hesitant about international mileage runs due to the Covid testing issues. The issue of overnight stays in foreign cities was adding another wrinkle to the planning. Appreciate your response.
