Some folks are on the hunt for Delta Air Lines MQD so they can earn or requalify for Medallion status. If you’re one of them and live in Los Angeles (or can get there), you might be interested in this AeroMexico business class run to Santo Domingo!
The overnight mileage run travels Los Angeles (LAX) –> Mexico City (MEX) –> Santo Domingo (SDQ) –> Mexico City (MEX) –> Los Angeles (LAX).
There are plenty of dates for LAX-SQD mileage runs at good prices. But this particular run I found seems like a unicorn.
It departs LAX at 1:20 PM on Friday, October 7. The flight to MEX is aboard a 787 Dreamliner. You then have five hours in Mexico City before an overnight flight to SDQ. You fly the return route and are back in Los Angeles just after 8:00 PM on Saturday.
Most of the other LAX-SDQ mileage runs involve overnight layovers.
ITA Maxtrix estimates the trip will travel 6,942 miles. And Delta credits MQD and SkyMiles based on a percentage of the distance flown on partner airline reservations. When you book this run and credit it to your Delta SkyMiles account, that means you should earn about $2,776 MQD. That’s more than triple your fare cost of $828.27! The “I” fare also means you’ll haul in about 10,428 MQM (7.9 CPMQM which isn’t awful) and 13,900-ish redeemable SkyMiles before any elite Medallion bonuses.

Here’s a Google Flights link that may help you. I know Travelcation shows a $796 fare — but that makes me nervous. I’d book through AeroMexico or consider one of Rene’s favorite methods. He usually starts at TopCashback and then books through Priceline.
Don’t pay for seats. Once you book your trip, take your AeroMexico PNR and go into AeroMexico’s website to select your seats.
