The space formerly known as the Virgin Clubhouse in LAX’s Terminal 2 is now a Delta Sky Club. Mrs. Carley and I visited the other day and had a chance to look around.
Update, April 20: This lounge closed when Delta opened its flagship T3 Delta Sky Club.
Where is the Club?
You’ll find it on the Mezzanine level in Terminal 2.
This club is across from the “main” Delta Sky Club in T2. (They’re so close to each other that it’s like they’re Starbucks locations or something! 🙂 )
How is this Sky Club Different from the Other One?
It seems as though this lounge will serve an annex or overflow club — similar to how Terminal 3 operated when it had a larger lounge and secondary club. (Before Delta demolished T3 for its big SkyWay project.)
There are two main differences between the T2 lounges.
The first — and most obvious — is size. This lounge bears a much smaller footprint than its counterpart a couple of dozen yards to the west. Right now, though, nearly all of Delta’s operations occur at T2. And the place is very crowded. Food lines are very long and gate areas are packed.
Secondly, the food and beverage operations are scaled back compared to the other club.
Food-wise, you won’t find as many options as you will across the hall.
Plus, there’s no alcohol service despite available bar space.
There is a notice on the lounge’s entrance, though, that Delta apparently applied for a liquor license. I assume beer, wine, and the good stuff will eventually be served.
Water, sodas, and coffee were available when we visited. Food and beverages were served by a very friendly and warm staff.
There were several available seating options that morning. (The big Sky Club was near capacity.)
I like the space because it features some nice views of Delta jets, Terminal 1, and the alley between. Most of the windows face east — so you’ll enjoy some nice natural light during the mornings.
There were power and USB outlets where we sat —
— and these cool towers situated at some other locations.
The artwork showcases a Los Angeles theme.
Regular LAX travelers will notice some relocated artwork from the other clubs.
Final Approach
The satellite Sky Club doesn’t come with as many food and beverage options as its sister location across the way. But it’s certainly a comfortable and welcoming place to enjoy a small bite, sip a hot or cold drink, and relax while getting some work done. And it’s much better than trying to find somewhere to sit in the very crowded gates areas below.

Thank you for the post .
Does this mean LAX is permanently losing a Virgin Clubhouse, or is Virgin Atlantic working on a new lounge? I suppose this also means one fewer Priority Pass lounge…
Virgin Atlantic says: “Due to the current COVID-19 situation, our LAX Clubhouse is currently closed. We’re pleased to say our colleagues in the Delta Sky Club lounge are looking forward to welcoming and taking care of you.” I’ll update everyone if I hear something more.
Wow, sad to see the Virgin Atlantic LAX Clubhouse closed. I will miss the sit down restaurant style menu.
Would you know how long this “satellite” location will service it’s members? When will we be able to go back to the main lounge?
They’re both open.
