Delta is apparently opening a temporary Sky Club inside Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Terminal 2 as part of the airline’s Sky Way project.
The lounge will be in the now-former Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse LAX location on T2’s mezzanine level.
A Delta source said the temporary lounge is scheduled to open next month. It’ll be the lone LAX Sky Club until the new, mega Delta Sky Club between Terminals 2 and 3 is completed. That will be somewhere in the vicinity of the new Delta One lounge we blogged the other day.
I’m guessing the new Sky Club will open sometime in Q1 2022 (based on this page’s information). Our source said that at that point Delta may keep another lounge open inside Terminal 2, at least for overflow. (And it’s kind of a trek from the “central headhouse” to the terminals.)
I hope Delta somehow expanded the old Virgin Clubhouse space. That lounge wasn’t exactly big. Considering most of Delta’s flights depart from T2 right now (with a few from the Tom Bradley International Terminal), it’ll be interesting to see how fast the lounge fills up.
But, hey, at least Terminal 3 as we knew it was demolished.

What is the Sky Way project?
Delta is bridging T2, T3, and TBIT at LAX. And making T2 and T3 all pretty like.
Do I remember just??2 years ago the Term2 lounge opened??? It isn’t that old???
Delta took over the old Swiss lounge (I think it was Swiss) while starting construction on the Sky Way project.
I was told by a SC employee while checking me in last week,
that since the former Virgin Club is so small, both locations will be open and operating simultaneously for the time being.
Thanks, Mike!
