In another cost-cutting move, Delta is temporarily suspending Million Miler gifts for SkyMiles members who reach the milestone.
Many felt the Million Miler gift quality was declining anyway. “The current million mile offerings are pathetic, to say the least,” reader Duane told us last year. “No Tumi, just a bunch of Samsonite luggage, the best of which is worth no more than $100 or so.”
But suspending the gifts altogether is another sign of how rough things are getting for the airline.

That’s sad, because I’m sneaking up on 2M miles and need a new Tumi backpack.
But, most of all I want Delta to survive and return to normal. ATL is my home airport, and I’ve always been able to nonstop or one stop anywhere in the world. I want to jump on a plane just as soon as there’s some place safe to go!
I MISS YOU, DELTA !
I
I always felt that a Million Miler milestone should be a tiebreaker in an upgrade scenario, Really no value to it.
Absolutely correct! It means nothing. With Delta it is What have you done for me Lately? I see many of my MM cohorts way back in Main Cabin; Denied an upgrade. Sucks to be us, but they are still the best in town!
OMG! I’ve spent my whole life flying Delta and I’m just 200 miles short of 1 million. It’s bad enough there is little recognition from Delta for this “lifetime” achievement, now they just kicked me while I was down. Argh!
