Oh, DO$H – this one is going to cost you.
A LOT.
I am done with you.
I’ve 1) removed all my linked cards and accounts with you and 2) removed the app and moving on. Why?
Let me explain the mess that has happened over the past week or so.
Most of us who have used the DO$H app got an e-mail with a Staples promotion that we can earn, due to COVID, 5% cashback – up to $20 per day. Nice.
The T&C did NOT exclude gift cards. Chris blogged April 4 about the deal (as well as most of the other blogs). It was a great way to social distance and earn some points we hope to use one day when we can travel again.
I placed an order, once a day, for four days and each time the order was processed I got a “push notice” to my phone congratulating me for my purchase and that it had registered with DO$H. Fun!
I also got e-mail notices that my money was pending in the app. Perfect!
Well, not so fast.
On the fifth day of our DO$H – Staples buying fun, the T&C in the app changed big time.
Not only had the offer dropped from $20 per day to a low $5 per day, but they were now EXCLUDING gift cards as an option.
RATS but ah well. At least we got to play a few days. Then things got really ugly.
All of my purchases suddenly changed to “Failed.” DO$H started sending out NASTY letters that they have the right to claw back credits from us “gamers” for abusing the T&C. Well, the T&C were clear to me and I followed them to the letter so…
Then, a few days went by, and all my purchases again tracked correctly and were pending! Maybe DO$H got smart and decided to pay out for those who did follow the rules? NOPE!
Once again today my DO$H app showed all four of my buys over four days were now DEAD. Go pound sand, no cash back for you.
I get it – like the airlines – DO$H can do whatever it wants to. It can be slimy and choose to say we can choose to pay or not pay as we please. I agree. You can be as slimy as you want to be. You know what – I can:
1) Remove all my cards from your APP
2) Remove all my personal data from your APP
3) UN-install and no longer use your APP
Loyalty, like with the airlines, goes both ways. Today I parted ways with what once was one of the best apps in the market.
Buh-bye, DO$H. It was fun. – René
