Need almost $7000 Delta MQM — for less than a third of that amount?
Here’s a premium economy mileage run/long weekend from Los Angeles to Cape Town, South Africa, that may interest you.
The four long hauls are aboard Air France. The first flight (an LAX to Vancouver hop) is on WestJet.
According to the Unofficial SkyMiles Calculator, the trip flies 23,287 miles (that’s almost a tenth of the distance from Earth to the moon). Credit the trip to your Delta SkyMiles account (that part is very important — here’s why) and it’s estimated to yield $6986 Delta MQD, plus 34,932 MQM.
As of post time, the fare is $2,206.60.
The trip leaves Friday, November 20 at 8:30 AM and ultimately gets to CPT just past midnight on Saturday night. You have Sunday to see the sights (or sleep) before your return leaves at 12:30 AM on Monday morning/Sunday night. You’ll be back to LAX around dinner time.

Will pass. Will stick with the tickets purchased from Virgin Atlantic for West Coast (SFO/LAX) to JBG, which end up with something closer to 3.67 MQD per $ spent. Besides the fact its VS PE vs AF PE
