Irritated with the new Delta Personal or Business Log-in Screen Each Visit? How to Remove it (Not for Everyone FYI).

Everything old is new again as Delta keeps tinkering with the IT for the Delta.com home page (related – workaround for cartoon-like new Delta flight booking page). The latest thing you may have seen popping up the past week or so is what you see above — that is, you have to choose each time you log-in if you want to use your personal or business profile (tip – there is a drop-down if you want to switch if you choose the wrong one – see below).

First up on this tip: it is not for everyone. If you have negotiated or company rates with Delta, you are going to have to put up with this and this post is not for you. If that is you just keep in mind you need to use the personal login/drop-down tab to book SkyMiles tickets.

OK, what about everyone else?

a screenshot of a computer

The reason you are seeing this tab is likely due to you having a SkyBonus number associated with your “My Delta” flight preferences page (use THIS LINK when you are logged in to Delta.com to see if that is the case). You may not care about SkyBonus anymore as Delta has for years now in “Keep Descending” fashion destroyed what once was a sweet program for small business owners. Thus for my wife, Lisa, it is all but pointless for her to have that number in her profile.

a screenshot of a computer

It was a quick and simple click to remove the SkyBonus number and then log out. When she logged back in the above dual login bug me request was gone. Problem solved – sweet!

A final note on the above – you may be “helping” someone keep their 5+ Skybonus user requirement going by having a Skybonus number attached to your profile. If that is the case you will simply have to either A) put up with the added nag log-in screen or B) explain to your friend that they will have to find someone else to “pad” their numbers! 😉 – René

Thanks for the tip on getting rid of that annoyance at log in.
I had a Sky Bonus # for years–but then when I went into business for myself, they changed it to minimum of 5 employees-so much for caring about small businesses!!

    Thanks again

You know Rene, I am always a supporter of your posts and in agreement but this one I have to strongly disagree… Although poor valuations and redemptions points are still free on top of miles and although they take a while to earn I have stockpiled 1M of these and just redeemed 500K to send my dad to Argentina with us on Delta One in June… It takes a while but I think it’s a limited effort for somewhat of a value that causes no one any harm… Just saying…

@Santiago – My point is simply this: When Delta allowed a hard working sole proprietor (or even a small biz with 2 or 3 workers) to be part of the program it was great even with then constant no-notice crushing devaluations. The “you must have 5 even if you have to fudge the number to make it work” is just wrong. Why hate those who are the backbone of this land?

If that’s the point Rene I agree completely… I just don’t think it has no value… value might be low but it’s better than nothing. 🙂

I fly 40 weekends a year and still think skybonus is worthless. Not only can’t you use the points for flights but you have a limited time to use before they expire. There’s isn’t a value when you consider the net loss of time managing skybonus account or hours trying to actually use the .001 point. I’m out and just walked away from 200k skybonus points – or what a business man calls a $20 lunch.
