Bay Area travelers have an opportunity to pick up some Delta MQM and MQD with an AeroMexico business class run to Santo Domingo!
Apologies to our Elite Mileage Run mailing list subscribers. There was a technical glitch with Mailerlite, our email list service, that resulted in us not being able to send out an email for this run.
There are several dates available in January, February, and March 2023. (If you need something before the end of 2022, please get in touch right now with the point.me Mileage Run department.)
Some trips are as low as currently priced as low as $894. Those require staying at least one night in Mexico City — although, there’s an extra stop in Guadalajara that’ll add a little more MQM and MQD earnings.
But if you don’t have that kind of time, check out this run for $1,010. The general routing is SFO-MEX-SDQ-MEX-SFO.
The trip is estimated to travel 7,600 miles. Because of how Delta awards partner travel when you credit it to your SkyMiles account, you’ll earn:
- $3040 MQD (A return of 3X your investment)
- 11,241 MQM (@ 8.9 CPM — not awful but nothing too exciting)
- 15,512 base SkyMiles (plus Medallion bonus: Diamond + 120%; Platinum + 80%; Gold + 60%; Silver + 40%)
This involves some Y-UP fares that code as “I” tickets. There have been, in the past, some issues with getting correct credit with Y-UPs from AeroMexico. All data points suggest this problem has been fixed — but be sure to save all your boarding passes and follow these steps to make sure you get correct credit!
Here’s a sample itinerary:
I like that you can knock down the entire trip over two days. Our example trip above takes place during a weekend, too.
You should have access to AeroMexico business classes lounges in Mexico City. Keep in mind MEX has an American Express Centurion Lounge.
“How Can I Book This Trip and Make Sure I Get the Correct Elite Earnings?”
Please look at this tweet:
We’ve received emails from people taking #Delta partner runs — and losing out on MQD earnings because something preventable went wonky.

hey can I post a mileage run request on here for myself ??
@Jim Harris: Sure. Can’t promise anything as we’re at the mercy of time, writing, and whatever fares we can find.
In the meantime, check out this post and consider contacting our buddy Adam and his crew.
Love these mileage run posts. Please share more of these!
Thanks Chris..onward to $$20,000 and keeping DM
It should count toward your Delta Amex MQD Waiver.
Imagine if someone put that $1k spent on an elite status run (and all other such funds) towards paid upgrades on actual trips. In the superior cabin, one would have better benefits than tier status affords. And, perhaps use some of the funds towards a SkyClub membership. What am I missing?
Delta Sky Club memberships will increase in price next year.
Individual: $695 or 69,500 miles, which is up from $545 (or 54,500 miles)
Executive: $1,495 or 149,500 miles. That’s about a 77% hike from the current $845 (or 84,500 miles)
Depending on the routes you fly — and how often — a thousand bucks won’t necessarily buy you many upgrades. Especially if you travel with a companion and want them upgraded with you.
Plus, the higher elite status = better customer service (ideally…) and help.
