The point of the blog is to help you the reader learn and get the best deals you can with your Delta points. One of the biggest complaints by most who do not know how to use our beloved program is the challenge to get low level seats to Europe.
So I have been kicking around and idea of a helping hand to make things even more easy for us all. Sunday eve I ran some searches and found somewhat good availability with the addition of so many more flights from Atlanta to London due to the Olympics.
My idea is this. I could twice a month on say Saturdays have a recurring post (put in the categories list on top) called say “low level Saturday” and find 10 dates over the next few months that are available with seats in business class from different cities to Europe. Some do not know all the cities to look for so I have been told seeing the list would help. Maybe this way we could all start to get used to where to look to find a route that could work for you for your trip. You could also later go back to the category called “low level seats” to review old posts in one place.
Now before I start this, understand the limited value of this. Seat availability changes all the time. Some of the seats I find will be bookable for weeks and others gone by the time you look. So is this a feature you would like in the blog? Would this be a feature you would use and check on a regular basis to make the effort worthwhile? Do you want coach seats too so do 5 and 5? You tell me and I will give it serious consideration. – Rene
PS – one more giveaway question. I earn a few cents when anyone uses my Amazon.com link to buy stuff (get Amazon buying credit). You can also earn Hawaiian points if you want them. But I now have about $35 saved up to buy something as a giveaway for the blog. My question, what do you want me to buy to giveaway? A computer bag? Something else travel related? Should I let it roll a few more months until it reaches say $100 and buy an e-Reader to giveaway? Comment and let me know.

Would love to see any low level to the carribean!
I would love it if ppl listed out flights they find, etc BUT I prefer learning how to find them instead. This lesson will develop skills and know how so I can find things for anywhere at anytime. I say this is a bad and tiring (for you) idea. We need a teacher not a daddy to hold our hands.
@Mike…. hummm. .love this idea. this could work and be included or stand alone. Humm… thanks – rene
Yes, coach seats as well! (Trying to fly as a family of four…)
I’m in favor of the 5-5 idea. Caribbean is not a bad thought either… As to what to do with the money, I’d save it for the ereader
ANY help/pointers/advice/availability info on low level business awards would be GREATLY appreciated!
Rene, I really appreciate that you think of your readers and seek their opinions about your blog. I like the idea of seeing what low level flights you find in both business class AND coach. I also like the idea of learning how to effectively do these searches for myself! Whatever you do will be helpful.
I think this would be helpful for me! or perhaps you could use your pull with delta to get them to revamp their terrible website.
Love the idea!
As an aside a fun giveaway could be a travel scale
Bose QC 15 or QC 3 headphones!!!!!
Yes, I think that this offer of yours has value. How about 7 Business / 3 Coach? Usually don’t like to waste miles on B to Europe. Thanks.
Select less expensive prizes so you can give away more prizes
I have been trying to figure out if I can use Delta miles for a trip in business class for 2 to Rome and Athens sometime in spring 2013. Atlanta is the closest large airport, however, reading other travel blogs has made me think I need to a acquire miles for another airline to accomplish this. I would love to see a feature where you list Europe Delta destinations.
I like the 5-5 option, and agree with some of the comments about helping teach us not handhold. Maybe through your examples though it will help spawn further ideas and discussion among your readers. Also, I’m starting some prep work to get a family of 4 to Au/Nz on points, pref biz class. Probably late 2013 but need to get started now due to availability. Some examples of inexpensive Au/Nz route options would be good.
I love Low Level Saturdays! Also, everyone loves noise canceling headphones and iPad cases.
yes,any information on low level business awards would be GREATLY appreciated and welcomed. Wife and I fly award B to Europe whenever we can but have to begin searching months in advance.
@All – thanks for all the very helpful feedback. Keep it coming and I will work on a plan and try to make everyone happy. Fun! – Rene
I like the idea, it will help to find the awards that I can never find.
I’d prefer if you rolled it over into one big award
Europe or caribbean would be great! First class too! Thanks!
As someone who doesn’t really need the extra help finding seats, I can’t imagine that it’s a bad thing. And I agree with some above posters saying that coach availability might be good too. Maybe instead of 10 dates, you could pick a couple city pairs that may help everyone (ie. ORD-CDG, NYC-AMS, IAD-CDG, ATL-LHR) and put both C and Y availability. Just a thought…
@ DWH – txs so much for the input! – Rene
