Show us the way Dave!

After a really disappointing visit to the IASS lounge (please never go) and a so-so Korean lounge I was ready for an improvement and was letting “Dave” show the way. One tiny problem:

We were a little too early. If you search for gate 21 you will find this club. It is upstairs so you have a choice of escalators or elevators.

You are greeted by an impressive set of doors. Even the glass walls are impressive really and when you see this kind of attention to detail you can hope for good things inside. Let me give you a quick tour of the space moving left from entrance first.

As you can see the club is a semi circle with seating both left and right including work space for laptop use or the clubs computers. Also, as part of the divider between the food area and the seating area are a number of complimentary magazines (newspapers were also on hand).

Seating is modern and comfortable. The only thing I found lacking was simple access to power outlets (depending on just where you were seated).

Behind the main check-in desk was a private room. It seemed reserved even at this early hour but I never saw anyone use it during my visit. Now moving right from entrance we have:

There was a small snack and drink service area at this end of the club (as well as land line phones) but at the early hour we visited they have not opened this up yet. So back to the left and the larger food service:

Breakfast choices were a unique mix of some western style choices as well as some soups and other choices that were more lunch fare to me. We sampled several items and all were quite good. What I was really looking forward to was lunch choices but more on that in the next club review.

Coffee, tea as well as drinks were out early but since we were 13 hours different from Japan this was not a bad thing because there was next the “star” of the show, if you will, the beer machine.

Pure joy! BEER!

This is such a fun toy and gosh I wish I had one at home. If you are not able to play the video below I have screen shots above.

I ended up with one extra beer than I wanted this early (I had been up since 2 AM local) but I did it for the blog after all (work, work, work). If you visit this club, please get a beer!

But to me, as a total #AVgeek, the absolute main reason to just spend hours in this club is to sit and enjoy the views of jets coming and going. This sunny day was perfect and to see so many airlines from all over the planet was a real treat. Then I wished I was a kid in school in Japan because:

I am sorry for the quality of the photo but I just could not believe it. A bus full of kids pulled up very near the active runway and all poured out and sat in a group in the grass just where jets were rotating for takeoff and right after landing. Oh my I was jealous. After about half an hour they departed and Dave and I made our way over to the club near gate 15. That review is up next! – René

This is definitely the nicer of the two Delta clubs at Narita, if only because this has two buffets and bars. The other club only has one.

@Ex-FNT – To me it is all about the views. I was so geeked out and loved it! (well the beer machine was really kool too I have to admit).

I wish you showed the showers and toilets. The Japanese have such high-tech toilets with bidets, air dryers, heated seats, etc. The showers in this club (Satellite 2) are much nicer than in the other club (Satellite 1).

The NRT clubs have remained basically unchanged since the NW days. They were then about the best clubs in the NW/DL system. Now they are kind of disappointing when compared with the business class and especially first class lounges in Terminal 2.

You picked a good time for photography because when the hub operation starts they can become very crowded. Try finding a seat with an electrical outlet then.

Of course the agents and other employees at the NRT clubs are super courteous and helpful.

@John – A reason to go back :-). PS You will have to ask TexasYankee one day what he thinks of hi-tech flushers 😉
