This is one of those Monday morning posts where I scold you a bit if you have been procrastinating and not getting all the frequent flyer value out of some super simple things that you really should do. Let’s start with my favorite points cards for all the perks they give, that is:
As you can see from the top screen shot I re-up’d my free Boingo membership. In the past I was not impressed but in 2015 I have been REALLY impressed and pleased with this service and getting it free from my AMEX Platinum card has just been tops!
What else could you have forgotten about from the AMEX Platinum? Have you called, not just on your card as primary card holder, but also on all of your secondary cards as well, for free SPG gold status for each card? Also, free priority pass membership for each card. These are all fantastic perks from this card and if you are procrastinating – stop it, and make the call please!
Next, yet again another perk of the AMEX Platinum if you pay with the card, is your Global Entry that you can renew up to 12 months before it expires (have you checked when yours does?)! Another so important reason to get this if you do not have it is the fact that as of April so many Delta elites are no longer getting medallion TSA PreCheck but with Global Entry, TSA PreCheck comes FREE and you have your own known traveler number for Delta and other airlines as well.
A little off topic and yet NOT is a reminder to please check your expiration date of your BOGOF (E22) Delta AMEX Reserve or Platinum card certs. Why? Unlike so many certs this one must not only be redeemed but also flown BEFORE the expiration date of the cert. That makes checking when it expires so important. This is an amazing perk of both cards and it is sad to see it go to waste!
This next one you should just be ashamed of yourself if you are not using Twitter yet. If for nothing else than for @DeltaAssist (and clearly follow @DeltaPoints) but also for the super simple tweet with any AMEX card with #AmexSamsClub once you have registered your twitter for AMEX twitter promotions!
This is just SO simple and you are just procrastinating if you are not doing this. Oh, btw, it does even work if you need to re-up your membership for another year at $20 off. Simple and a great deal.
Here is one last one for you today as I hate to overload procrastinators. Have you done this month’s credit card retention calls(E13)? Seriously, just while you are taking a 5-10 minute drive some place call and get some points or cash back or something for staying a loyal card member of ANY of your cards that charge a fee. I do for each and every card and you should too! – René
