I had a post last month while I was in Sweden about my second attempt to use Delta.com codes to book a rental in Sweden. As it turns out, this location said it was not participating in the Hertz rewards points program or #1 Club Gold. Clearly I am no car rental road warrior as some of my readers are, but I find this non-participation a bit strange (but then again Delta now does not give full points on all Skyteam flights so I guess I can see it).
Even so I was extended a nice upgrade from a Volvo wagon to this X90. All I can say about the car is I was impressed. From my Swedish heritage I have always loved Volvo’s. I have never owned one, but this rental made me think. Space was ample, ride was nice and the quality of the car was evident. It was a diesel and got good MPG.
I did have to be very careful of my speed as Sweden has speed cameras all over the place but at least they do warn you with a nice little sign they are coming up. That and Swede’s tend to drive really fast.
So I did not expect any points from my rental, but there must have been some cookies left over on my PC when I played with all the rental codes because I did end up with 1000 Delta Skymiles for the rental (but no Hertz points).
Speaking of free points on this trip, I did input my KLM Flying Blue number and sure enough I did get FB points for the GOT-AMS leg on my Skymiles award ticket. I am way behind but plan to soon have a post about our stopover days in Amsterdam and how our summer in Sweden went. I have to say I just LOVE my Skymiles. I have already booked our 100k low level business seats for our fall trip back to Sweden and this time we are doing a stopover in Rome for a few days on the way back and get to try Alitalia’s new Magnifica business class seats as an additional perk! 🙂 – René

Rene, the Alitalia’s Business Seats (lie-flat) look better than Delta’s. Let us know how they compare.
@Rick – yes looks very nice. Like the new 767 DL seats but even more. Brian TPG had a nice review on his flight on them!
