There seems to be a targeted email to Skymiles members that gives you instant Club Carlson GOLD status. The kicker is there were issues with the link this morning and those targeted could not get it to work. Now, it seems, anyone can get it (maybe). It says you can not already have a Club Carlson account, but maybe if you have no status you could use another email?

I was able to sign up for both Lisa (no Delta status) & myself (a Delta Diamond Medallion). It is only until FEB2014, but free status is free status and also very nice if you do not have the Club Carlson 85,000 point card offer they have going that gives you free GOLD status!  – René

    Thanks!

Might come in useful to status match with other program 😉

@René – You seem to have missed that “This Club Carlson / Delta SkyMiles offer is only valid for Delta SkyMiles Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond members.” You may have been able to “sign up” for Lisa, but they specifically say that they will check the provided SkyMiles number for qualifying elite status.

@lars – saw that thus my Lisa test. Worth a shot anyway.

I already have 2 CC accounts and probably don’t need a third account with gold status. Great find DP.

I’m really curious – how do you get these targeted offers? Husband is a million mile, reserve and platinum amex card holder, platinum medallion and he never gets targeted offers for credit cards. I don’t know whether to be offended or not. Credit score is over 800 so its probably just as well.

@Christine – Oh I am offended all the time when I don’t get a targeted offer and Delta is big on these.

Signed up when you posted this. Just checked–no luck. Just FYI, for me anyway.
