With a HT to our fellow BoardingArea.com blogger YHBU we came across a nice AeroMexico mileage run from Madrid Spain. It can earn you a projected $3,856 MQD — and costs just over $1400 (a bit more if you want to overnight).
As you can see there are a number of dates over the coming weeks you could jump on this deal and while I did not search all dates this does give you the idea.
The run is MAD-MEX-CUN-MEX-MAD but there are other options open as well.
The trip is also projected to earn $3856 MQDs (at 30% of distance) and 25,708 redeemable SkyMiles before any applicable Medallion® bonuses for an I class discounted business class fare. Depending on how much you personally value a SkyMile, this is a nice return for the investment in the fare and earning ~2.7x MQDs is sweet. You will also spend a bunch of time on an AeroMexico 787 that I have reviewed here.
Here’s the itinerary:
Where to Book
You can use Google flights to find this run and then tinker with the flights you want. Keep in mind you will be billed in EUR so pick a credit card that DOES NOT charge a foreign transaction fee (vs dollars).
You will have rather long layovers in MEX airport but you will have lounge access due to this being a business class fare and if you have a non-Delta Amex Platinum card you can also visit the AMEX Centurion lounge as well.
I know it is has been a long time since I posted any elite runs as I have personally given up the quest to be a Delta Diamond Medallion® anymore, but a few of these runs plus a few bonus MQDs from Delta Amex cards could be just what you are looking for to get a higher Delta status. Do keep in mind you also have to get to Madrid to take one of these runs so maybe consider stacking two of them for the maximum impact for the spend.
