Delta Air Lines used to give metal baggage tags to its SkyMiles Diamond Medallion elite status members. The peasants (Platinum, Gold, and Silver) all received plastic tags.
Until now.
The airline is awarding metal brag bag tags to all Medallion members. (Yes, Silvers — even you, too!) Plus, there are options to customize your luggage tags. This all part of the new welcome kits for the 2025 Medallion Year.

Order Personalized Delta Bag Tags!
Medallion members can order two complimentary metal bag tags indicating their status level. (Straps are also included.) Plus, Diamond members will receive four (4) Job Well Done certificates to give Delta employees; Platinums will get two.

You can opt to have your name and/or the year you joined SkyMiles printed on the tags. (Some want their information on their tags, others don’t.)
According to Delta, the tags should arrive within 6-8 weeks.
I think this is a pretty cool idea. (Although, I’d take lower airfares in exchange for plastic bag tags without personalization.) But we’ll tip our caps to Delta on this one. I think it’s #KeepClimbing-worthy.
What do you think about the personalized metal bag tags? Are you ordering them?

I didn’t see anything in the FAQ saying that JWD will be sent without requesting a tag. You might as well request a tag. Even if you don’t want to use it, you can probably find something to do with it. (Ice scraper, ornament, whatever.)
20-year platinum million miler here. Too bad Delta gutted Skymiles and essentially kfired me as a customer because I wasn’t profitable enough for them. Making a profit this quarter is more important than long-term customer loyalty.
They kill the program and then give us flashy tags, thinking that’ll make up for it.
I was a little surprised today because I received a “Platinum Medallion Bag Tag” envelope in the mail, but alas, they are still sending out the plastic bag tags in addition to the ordered metal.

I ordered mine with EyeoftheFlyer.com for name 😉
You clearly are begging for your luggage to be destroyed or “lost.”
Thanks for the reminder. I want to be third in line for the tags, behind you and Rene
Hah! When I submitted my order yesterday, I think it was somewhere in the low-7000s. Too late for us, I guess. Whomp, whomp.
Chris how did you figure out where in line you were?
After I finished my order, it said something like “order number 7600.” My guess is that they started sequentially with 1, 2, 3, 4… etc.
I have Diamond status. I never use the tags. What’s the point?
To tell everyone you have Diamond status! 😉
@Chris – You should read the blog 😉
@Liss – They do matter and why as a Gold now I will keep my old Diamond tags on bags: https://eyeoftheflyer.com/2022/03/28/delta-brag-tag-perks/
Travel for me slowed way down and I dropped from Plat to Silver, it’s cushioning the blow! Like they always say, life is about the small things
Collect ’em all?
Ordered my 2MM tags. Nice touch Delta!
I just hit 1 million miles this past weekend. Getting my Diamond tag with the 1M on it.
Congrats! Mind sharing with the class where you flew that put you over the million mark?
MCO – AUS. I got to talk with the pilots and sit in the captain’s chair for a pic.
Excellent!!
Congrats!
@Bob – Jealous! Think what Diamond MM metal tags are worth on Ebay 🙂
Thank you! I just ordered mine.
Good post.
Will Delta still send out the Job Well Done Certificates even if you do not request the new metal tags?
Thanks

That will teach me to ignore the newsletter, I would have missed it had you not posted this.
Adding unnecessary weight to each flight.

I was not aware of the new tags until Eye of the Flyer wrote about it. I ordered both my Diamond tags and my 2MM tags immediately.
how do you order them?
DeltaMedallionTags.com
Is there a glitch in the matrix? It will not allow me to “PROCEED TO CONFIRMATION.”
Delta IT…
Same error for me…
I was a little surprised today because I received a “Platinum Medallion Bag Tag” envelope in the mail, but alas, they are still sending out the plastic bag tags in addition to the ordered metal.
@Stan – They auto send old classic ones. Metel ones have not shipped yet.
Same issue here 🙁
