Washington state residents can enroll in a special promotion giving them an honorary Delta Air Lines “status.”

Delta’s back with its “12Status” in honor of the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks team. The “12” nods toward the “12th man,” an affectionate term given to a football team’s dedicated fans. (Football teams have 11 players on the field at a given time. The 12th man is the crowd cheering them on.)

The Seahawks’ passionate fanbase is known for literally creating earthquakes by jumping and stomping in the stands at Lumen Field in Seattle. (This past summer, Taylor Swift fans caused a 2.3 temblor at the same venue.)

12Status is something Delta offers to compete with Alaska Airlines, the Seattle hometown airline.

Enrollment is required. You do that here.

What is Delta 12Status?

Delta offers “12Status” to Washington state residents, whether or not they’re Seahawks fans (or even heard of the team 🙂 ).

People who enroll in the promotion earn one SkyMile for each passing yard gained by the Seahawks during the upcoming regular season and any playoff games (if the ‘hawks get that far, ha!).

To put this into perspective, the Seahawks threw for 4,167 passing yards last year. That’s 4,167 SkyMiles, worth roughly $41 (or more, especially during a flash sale and/or if you can take advantage of TakeOff 15).

12Status members can also use the Group 5 boarding zone (formerly “Main Cabin 1” for Delta flights departing from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) from September 8 until the Seahawks’ season concludes.

Again, that’s only for flights departing SEA — not for any other flights. (Remember that six Delta Amex Cards offer Group 5 boarding for all Delta flights.)

Finally, 12Status holders can enjoy a 12% discount at Seahawks Pro Shop stores on the 12th of each month during the Seahawks season.

Final Approach

Delta once again offers 12Status to Washington state residents. Members earn a SkyMiles for each passing yard the Seahawks gain during the season, enjoy Group 5 boarding for flights from SEA, and have access to a 12% discount at Seahawks Pro Shops on the 12th of each month during the season.

This so-called promo (~$41 bucks! Not-last boarding! WOW!!) is as lame as the team is. (OK, I know I will hear it for that last bit, and deservedly so ha.)

I’m a Vikings fan, so I can’t troll too much on this one. But I couldn’t resist in the post :-).
