Earlier this summer, Delta Air Lines teased a special announcement about a promotion extending the summer (or words to that effect). That was temporarily derailed by the carrier’s epic IT meltdown in July.
In an email sent to Delta SkyMiles American Express Card members on Tuesday, Delta launched its “Beyond the Summer Event.” (Don’t have a Delta Amex? Don’t worry. Here’s a link to the promotion.)
It’s a flash sale offering discounted cash and SkyMiles tickets to destinations worldwide. (Remember that Delta Amex cardholders can save even more on award flights, thanks to the TakeOff 15 benefit.)
Promotional travel periods vary by region. For example, “Beyond the Summer” dates for Japan are October 2 through March 15. Europe is November 1 through March 8.
Various blackout dates also apply.
The sale ends this Thursday, August 29, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
If you’re trying to pursue a Million Miler tier, remember that eligible miles are now only those actually flown. So, this could be an excellent opportunity to book a cheap flight or award redemption and pick up some good mileage.
Happy flying and saving! But hurry!

Not sure what I was expecting with this promotion but this was certainly a let down
Clearly a Paid Post for this non-promotion
Nope! Don’t believe everything your fellow trolls under the bridge tell you.
I checked for the email. I don’t think I got it. I have an Amex Delta Platinum Card.
I didn’t either although one of my 5 additional card holders did.
There is no way this could be the event. It was not supposed to be for Delta American Express card holders only. Also, not everyone received the promotional email. If you are right, this is a huge letdown, especially since I never knew about it and missed it
I’m not saying why but I take back what I said. I think you are right, that this was the big event.
