Okay, so, wow. We’re already at about the halfway point of 2024 — and talking about the Q3 bonus cashback offers for Chase Freedom Flex®‘s (and legacy Chase Freedom card, which is no longer open for new applications).
The no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex® will award 5X Ultimate Rewards points (advertised as 5% cashback) for purchases made at gas stations, EV charging stations, movie theatres, and on select live entertainment from July 1 through September 30, 2024!
Referral offer: Earn $200 cash back (awarded as 20,000 points) after you spend just $500 on purchaes within three (3) months of being approved for the card. Learn here how to apply for the Chase Freedom Flex®. All information about the Chase Freedom Flex® has been collected independently by Eye of the Flyer. It is not available through our credit card affiliate. The details provided herein have not been reviewed by the card issuer.
You’ll earn 5% cashback (awarded as 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards®) on purchases made through those merchants from July 1 through September 30. Cardholders can earn back up to 7,500 Ultimate Rewards. The bonus is valid for people who have the legacy Chase Freedom card (which is no longer open for new applications).
Enrollment is open through September 14. Cardholders must manually enroll in the promotion — it doesn’t automatically add itself to your card. So how do you do that?
There are a couple of ways to opt-in to the Q3 bonus promotion.
The first (and simplest) is to visit ChaseBonus.com. Plug in your last name, the last four digits of your Flex card’s number, and your zip code.
The other is to sign into your Chase account, scroll to your Flexcard, tap or click on the “Activate” button then go from there.

Quick Caveat
Keep in mind you may transfer those Ultimate Rewards points to other eligible cards with better redemption rates when purchasing travel through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards Travel portal.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® (1.5 cents per point)
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (1.25 cents per point)
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (1.25 cents per point)
Other Ultimate Rewards cards redeem at a rate of one cent per point. So, you can make your 5X points from the Flex promotion essentially worth 7.5X in travel with a Reserve card or 6.25X with one of those Preferred cards. That’s a pretty great return.
What are Examples of “Select Live Events”?
As of this post, the merchant list isn’t available. But last year, here is what Chase considers “select live events”:
Amusement / Theme Parks
- Busch Gardens
- Cedar Point
- Disneyland
- Disney World
- Legoland
- SeaWorld
- Six Flags
- Universal Studios
Major Professional Sporting Events
- MLB
- MLS
- NASCAR
- NBA/WNBA
- NFL
- NHL
- PGA/LPGA (What? No LIV golf?)
- US Open
Ticketing Agencies
- AXS.com
- Eventbrite
- GAMETIME Tickets
- Live Nation
- SeatGeek
- See Tickets
- StubHub
- Ticketmaster
- TicketWeb
- ticketLeap
- TickPick
- TicketsAtWork.com
Other
- Aquariums
- Carnivals
- Circuses
- Concerts
- Museums
- Theatrical Productions
- Zoos
Movie Theatres
Again, the merchant list isn’t available yet. But my guess is that major national and regional chains (and their apps) such as AMC, Cinemark, Marcus, and Regal are included. (Remember to use the Flex and Freedom to buy your concessions at the theatre, too!) You’re rolling the dice with independent movie houses.
