Delta Air Lines announced a number of flight additions on Friday — including what will be the carrier’s longest domestic hop.
Starting November 21, Delta will start daily nonstop flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). Delta will operate the route seasonally through April 30.
TPG’s Zach Griff notes that the Boston to Honolulu trip will be Delta’s longest domestic flight. Hawaiian Airlines currently operates a BOS-HNL flight. According to FlightAware data, that flight usually lasts anywhere between 10.5 and 11.5 hours.
The BOS-HNL passengers will ride on Boeing 767-300ERs. Mr. Griff reports these aircraft feature Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating. At least for now, the Premium Select seats serve as Comfort+ — which is great news! The Delta One seats are considered First Class, which means you won’t get the frills of Delta One. But that hasn’t exactly been anything too special since the pandemic…

Delta also announced the operation of a second daily nonstop from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Honolulu. That flight will operate from November 6 through March 29. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will also receive a boost in its service to HNL when a third daily nonstop operates from December 21 through March 29.
Finally, Delta announced the resumption of its Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) service to Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG). That operation flies from November 21 through March 29.
Airbus A321neos will handle the SEA-HNL flights, while the 767-300ERs operate the rest.
Finally, Delta announced new daily, roundtrip flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Seattle. That starts December 21.

That seems very surprising that the BOS-HNL flight is loaded as First Class instead of Delta One. I wonder whether that was a mistake. All of Delta’s other domestic long-hauls to Hawaii are sold as Delta One now, even the ones to OGG and the ones from SLC. Seems odd that the longest one would only be sold as First.
The good news is that it appears to be priced for First rather than Delta One for the moment. I would not be at all surprised to see this change before the flight actually launches, though. It doesn’t really make any sense for ATL, JFK, DTW, MSP, and even SLC to be Delta One, but BOS to be First.
