We had a rather early AM flight out of South Bend on our way to California so breakfast was courtesy of the new-ish Delta MSP G concourse Sky Club.
While not a remarkable meal I will say real potatoes vs. hash browns was a welcome sight and everything was quite good and hit the spot. Our layover was short and a rather long way to go to get all the way from one side of the airport to the other for our next leg to Salt Lake.
I have never been a huge fan of the Minneapolis airport. I like Detroit for it’s close location to my home and the train that can quickly get you from one end to the other of the main concourse. I was also surprised how packed everything was and this a week before the November travel rush.
I will say this about my 3 flights outbound – I was not offered a preflight beverage on any of them. Delta clearly is not the premium airline the CEO tell us it is. On to lunch.
I wanted something light and fun for the flight from Minneapolis to Salt Lake because I was planning on dinner in LA and did not want to eat too much before arrival. This fit the bill perfectly.
The side fruit salad was well prepared and sweet. With four wedges of cheese my only gripe was I really could have used more sourdough flat bread crackers to enjoy with the generous provisions. The addition of dates was also a nice, and very sweet, touch and paired well with a glass of wine.
If you are looking for a lighter side cold Delta first class lunch the charcuterie meat and cheese platter is a great choice to snack on while up in the air! – René

I had this coming home from Mexico over Thanksgiving and enjoyed it as well. Everything else seemed really heavy post Thanksgiving! We were not offered pre-flight drinks either, but were served as soon as we were in the air.
I flew 4 legs and honestly, none of it felt “premium.” Sad days for Delta flyers.
On domestic/short int flights, I began some time ago to pre-order the cold entree because so often (even on a 3, 4, 5 hour flight) the beverage&meal are served together and after meal service the FA seems to be catching up with texts/emails on the jump seat.
When the meal request is taken, I ask for a couple bottles and mixer with a snack or two because I prefer having the beverages/snacks first and then I will ask the FA later when I would enjoy getting the meal. (With the cold entree, this works great)! Some flight attendants don’t like this but I have never been refused. There used to be a custom/rule that the FA in the first class cabin should do a walk through every 10 or 15 minutes to see if there were any requests.
And yes, PDBs often are not a priority of the FAs although lately I have been lucky!!
Alaskan Airlines has an amazing fruit and cheese platter. Just tried a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stop raving about. Lol!
