Before my visit to the Chicago Seminars 2023 (the Delta Hotel one) I spent the night at one of my favorite near Chicago O’Hare (ORD) budget hotels. I will not review any Hyatt Place because they are all the same and I would guess most of us have stayed at one at some point. That said I want to share why I like this one so much.
Having space in a budget-price hotel is just such a treat. That and the fact that you can book this hotel for just 5,000 Hyatt points per night make this a great value to get work done and relax afterwards (you can also instantly transfer from Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to Hyatt, FYI). But there is one simple thing I just love about the Hyatt Place brand and it is this:
I don’t drink coffee. Never have and never will. Can’t stand the stuff – not even the smell. As a Scandinavian, I grew up drinking tea and one tea specifically and that is Twinings Earl Gray. Hyatt Place offered me this as their default brand – perfect!
While the slurry scrambled eggs with chives are not liked by many I find them and the sausages or bacon just fine with a bagel on the side (plus my tea). Again for 5k UR points this just works. What else?
In Chicago parking is out of control expensive in 2023 and it drives me (no pun intended) just nuts to have to pay not just for a place for me to rest my head but also for the spot for my car to rest it’s head. This Hyatt Place does not charge for parking and even had let me leave the car free there for a number of days when I was doing mileage runs out of ORD a while back. There is one more neat thing they have. Take a look:
I think every blogger on the planet have covered the fact that digital safes are not safe and very simple to hack. This one, however, went old school with a key! Neat right?
Bottom line there is still real travel value to be found if you look for it and the Hyatt Place near ORD is just such a location. Please don’t ever change! – René
