Here’s some very welcome news to those of us who occasionally (or frequently) fly the Airline of Love: Southwest is actually installing USB charging ports to its seats!
WFAA’s Jason Whitely reports the airline’s first USB-equipped 737 is “Imua One” — a new, Hawaiian-theme livery that debuted last week. He notes that Southwest will start retrofitting the current fleet this month. Plus, new 737s the airline receives will feature the power ports.
So, most of us will have to wait a while before we can take advantage of the new feature.
A photo Mr. Whitley posted an image displaying a 60W USB-C port and a USB-A port in a seatback. That seems to be from Imua One. We don’t yet know if all Southwest 737s will get the same dual-port setup.
Mr. Whitely adds that Southwest is retrofitting some of its overhead bins — “replacing its slimmer bins with taller ones allowing roller bags to be turned on their side.”
Well done, Southwest!

For an airline that has such high fares, they really don’t invest a lot into the product. I’d rather they go back to lower fares, but that’s not going to happen.
“Lower fares” — Thanks, Jason! I needed a good laugh! 😉
Heads up: SWA had been saying they’d release their booking calendar for Nov 5, 2023 to Jan 2024 tomorrow, May 4th. But they just quietly pushed that out to June 8th. That’s actually starting to cut it a bit close for people wanting to know they have critical Thanksgiving travel firmed up. 🙁
I scheduled the rest of my SW points to use them up this year – I hate southwest.
The actual flights are fine, but I’m so sick of the saving seats BS. Either there’s 30 people pre-boarding and saving seats, or there’s the guy who paid for 1 upgrade to 1 boarding, and then saves 5 seats for his family all in high c’s.
Every time I pay for A boarding I still end up with crappy seats.
I bet they’ll end up dropping the C ports and only put the old school ones..
