Caesars Rewards announced last year it would no longer match elite statuses matched from other select loyalty programs. For example, I used the complimentary IHG Platinum Elite status that comes with my IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card to match to Wyndham Rewards Diamond. Then I matched Wyndham Rewards Diamond to Caesars Rewards Diamond.

But then Caesars suddenly ended that — while simultaneously asking people’s vote for the annual Freddie Awards. (Total chutzpah!) Then Caesars (wisely) backtracked and added:
After re-reviewing your original Tier match request and your account, we are postponing enforcement of the exclusion described above for your account until our next program year. We have upgraded your Tier Status to the level it was before the downgrade, and this Tier will remain in place until January 31, 2023. After that date, you can submit another request for a Tier match if you qualify. The terms and conditions of our program are subject to change at any time, so please review the program website next year to see if you still qualify for a match.
I expected to lose my status on February 1, 2023. Nonetheless, I applied for a Wyndham Diamond status match to Caesars Diamond a few times in early and mid-January 2023.
I opened my Caesars app on February 1 — and was demoted to Gold. (Whomp, whomp!) So, I logged on to the Caesars Rewards website and requested a status match again. Today, I checked my account and saw this:
Success! Thanks, Caesars!
Did Caesars Get in My Head — and Make Me “Work” for My Status Match?
I’ll be honest: a close family member has long been an MGM Resorts high-roller. My wife and I enjoyed trips during which meals, drinks, and spa visits were comped. One of my clients regularly books us at MGM properties when we work in Vegas.
That said, I wanted to stretch my legs and kind of give something back to Caesars for the Diamond status. I made a concerted effort to visit their properties and spend a few bucks over the past few years. Even while taking advantage of some Diamond benefits.
In 2021, I met some friends in Vegas and we hit the sinful Bacchanal Buffet at Ceasars Palace. (Where by coincidence, we were in line with Sean Coomer from Miles to Memories.) I paid for that (not cheap) dinner.
Then we went over to Flamingo and played blackjack. (If my wife is reading: honey, skip to the next post on the blog.) Caesars (quickly) capitalized on me. I’ll leave it at that.
A few months later, my dad and I enjoyed my annual Celebration Dinner and dropped a few bucks at Caesars — something we wouldn’t have done had I not been a Diamond member.
My family visited Las Vegas a couple of times last year. We stayed one night at Caesars Palace — room and tax were comped, thanks to my Diamond status. On the morning we checked out, we visited the resort’s Cafe Americano for an excellent brunch. We paid for drinks and food.
A couple of months later, a client and I were in Vegas for work. I treated her to a fantastic late lunch at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant using my Celebration Dinner benefit. Before walking back to our hotel, we stopped by the Caesars sportsbook bar for a post-lunch beverage.
By Caesars Diamond giving me status, they earned a customer — even though I’m a guppy compared to whales. And as someone who spends most of his Vegas time at MGM properties, the Caesars Diamond match inspired me to stray. I spent money on food, beverages, and gambling that probably would’ve gone elsewhere.
Status matchers: what are your data points for this year?

I have Caesar’s Diamond via the Barclay’s Business Earner. I submitted my match yesterday and it applied overnight. I think it remains to be seen if all the match’s “stick” or not but I feel it was really the see-saw created by the one month offset of Wyndham vs Caesar’s they were really trying to squash. I think if you get your Status elsewhere like a card or a match outside the Caesars/Wyndham they would have a tough leg to stand on.
What other programs match to Wyndham?
@Rick – None others I am aware of. But this one is huge!
I got Radisson and Best Western to raise the status with Wyndham.
I submitted my Globalist status to MGM to retain Gold status. Seeing your article caused me to log into my Cesar’s account and I am back to Diamond. We will see if this sticks.
Wyndham diamond through the business card has been confirmed as eligible for retaining Caesar diamond every year per the program director.
Over the past few years I have matched from Hilton Honors Diamond to Wyndham Diamond to Caesar’s Diamond. This year so far on the Wyndham Rewards match page it shows this message, “ Please note: New status matches are not being offered at this time. Check back soon to see when status match will become available again.”
I’m hoping this is only temporary as I have become a very loyal business traveler (15+ trips yearly) within the Caesar’s brand in Vegas because of the Diamond perks.
Do you still have Wyndham Diamond?
I was “gifted” Caesars Diamond because I did some PR work for them. We went to Vegas last month and specifically dined at the steakhouse at the Flamingo to use my $100 diamond celebration, And it turned out I didn’t have it on my card, which was pretty disappointing since we spent about $200 there. (And that was one steak, plus sides and drinks!)
I made sure to rematch Caesars Diamond to Wyndham Diamond Last month. I applied for Caesars Diamond again on February 1st but haven’t heard anything yet. The website says 7 to 10 business days usually. Have people found that that’s correct? Thanks. Trying to go back to Vegas in April for a friend’s wedding.
No, it resets every calendar year. In the past I status match from my Hilton Diamond to Wyndham Diamond in January and then Wyndham to Caesar’s in February.
I just kept matching my Wyndham and Caesars back and forth.
@chris @All – This!
I matched my Wyndham diamond to Caesars and it gave me platinum and not diamond again. I wonder why!?!
I resubmitted again and made sure I clicked diamond as my current tier with Wyndham.
@Gio – Strange. They do have a drop down for both. Maybe try again?
The exact same thing happened to me. I resubmitted for a second time about 6 days ago, but nothing has happened – still platinum.
Try, try again!
Similar issue for me. Applied for match to Wyndham Diamond Feb 2. Two weeks nothing. Requested the match again a couple of days ago, and now platinum not diamond. Note that I did get the Earner card this year to get my Wyndham status. Tried again today.
girl switch off the strip to Red Rock, the comps are so much better honestly ✋
Caesars did not honor my Hilton Diamond Status. Started 2023 I dropped to Gold from Diamond.
If I apply for the current IHG® One Rewards Premier Credit Card bonus, how would I be able to status match to diamond at Caesars rewards?
I don’t believe Wyndham is taking status matches from other programs right now. That was the key.
So, as IHG Platinum, would you recommend trying for a first attempt status match with Caesars?
I don’t believe Wyndham is taking status matches from other programs right now. That was the key.
from Kansas City, Mo. We love , Caesars Diamond Rewards.
How long did it take them to change you back to diamond after requesting tier change?
Within about a week.
I have Wyndham Diamond through the Wyndham business card and it has matched every year to Caesars Diamond for the last few years. This year they matched to Platinum (a big step down due to resort fees) with no explanation. Do I contact Wyndham rewards or Caesars to address this? Anyone have an email address for either?
The exact same thing happened to me. I immediately resubmitted my match request, about a week ago, but nothing has happened yet. I also sent an email to customer service though the form on the Caesars Rewards website. I’d be interested in hearing if anyone has had any success in getting this corrected.
Please keep us posted!
I just received the following response from Caesars Rewards customer service:
“We appreciate your interest in your Caesars Rewards account. The Wyndham Rewards team provides the Tier Status you qualify for with a Tier Match with Caesars Rewards. While you can be a Diamond member with Wyndham depending on how you earned the status determines what status you qualify for with Caesars Rewards. If you feel the Platinum status is in error, please reach out to the Wyndham team for assistance as we do not have access to your Wyndham account and must rely on the information, they provide us with. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything further.”
I have Wyndham Diamond via the WR Earner Business card, so I should qualify for Caesars Diamond (and in fact was matched to that status last year). I’ve reached out to Wyndham Rewards diamond service. This is very frustrating!! Why can’t this just work like the MGM/Hyatt match does? Every year it involves multiple emails to Caesars and Wyndham to get this straightened out!
Exactly. The Hyatt / MGM match seems to be an automated system that checks it in real time and grants status match in real time. Caesars could build out something like this, they just choose not to, which is a failure of leadership.
Just received a response from Wyndham:
“Thank you for contacting Wyndham Rewards®. I have sent the form to have your Caesars Rewards matched with Wyndham Rewards. Please allow 2 weeks for the process to be completed. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know.”
Words I never thought I’d utter: Thanks, BigDaddy.
And 1 day later, I finally have my Caesars Diamond status for 2023! (16 days after I initiated the match process)
If anyone else was mistakenly matched to Caesars Platinum, it seems like the best course of action is to contact Wyndham diamond member service (as opposed to Caesars customer service).
@BigBaddyJ – Simply outstanding and thank you for tip!
I sent in a request to both Caesars and Wyndham. Which match form did you use? The one on the Caesars site or Wyndham site?
Try this.
Those who applied on the first day may need to do it again. It could be a glitch. I got my Diamond today Feb 15. Same for my wife. I reapplied on Feb 12 after the first try on Feb 1. I might have tried again on Feb 2 but I do not remember for sure. I was about to get the Wyndham buss but there was no need. I hope it lasts.

Thanks for the data point!
Resubmitted and started a ticket with Wyndham and Caesars with no progress so far.
Data point here too (and posted on FT) – haven’t spent a cent in a Caesar’s property since prior to the pandemic – submitted the merry go round status match via Wyndham (matched back to Wyndham Diamond in Jan ’23 from existing but expiring Caesar’s Diamond) thinking eh let’s give it a roll and now back to Caesar’s Diamond (was showing Gold this entire month until I checked this am after reading this post). Thought the “unearned” matches were done…perhaps too good to be true and I wouldn’t be surprised if Caesar’s claws the status back…but if not, will certainly attempt to hit some of their properties this year.
Thanks for the data point!
Every post or article that I have read says that Caesar’s will status match (New) members.
My question is how about existing Caesars rewards members.
I have Gold status with MGM and Icon Status with Hard Rock but have been a Caesar’s (Total) Rewards member for 35 + years….Am I eligible for a status match also…
