If you held Delta Diamond or Platinum Medallion elite status in 2023 but didn’t select your Choice Benefits, you may still do so — but hurry! This is your last chance.
Here Are Your Two Choices
The Medallion year expires today, January 31. And so do most of the benefits you can select.
- Unless you’re flying today and find a flight with available, confirmed Global or Regional Upgrade inventory, then Upgrade Certificates won’t be a good choice. (And that assumes they’re issued within a few hours — if at all today.)
- Sky Club membership? Valid through the rest of today.
- Gift Gold or Silver Medallion status to someone? You’re certainly generous — but the recipient can enjoy the benefits through the rest of today.
So, that leaves you with two realistic options: bonus SkyMiles or a Delta Travel Voucher.
- Platinum Medallions may select 20,000 bonus redeemable SkyMiles. It’s a little sweeter for Diamonds: they can receive 25,000. SkyMiles don’t expire until you do.
- The Delta Travel Voucher is valued at $200 both Platinums and Diamonds, expires 12 months after it’s issued, and may be used only by the Medallion member (e.g., you).
Which should you pick?
I generally opt for miles. They can be used to book travel for others (my wife, daughter, etc.). Plus, SkyMiles award travel earns Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQD). Sure, the voucher earns redeemable SkyMiles for your trip. That’s worth considering. But for the sake of ease, I chose miles.
Plus, they go even further if you hold an eligible Delta SkyMiles® Amex card and can take advantage of the TakeOff 15 benefit.
The 25,000 SkyMiles are worth more, in my opinion, than a $200 voucher. Delta seems to value SkyMiles at around a penny each for most award redemptions. Therefore 25,000 SkyMiles are worth about $250.
Here’s where you can select your Choice Benefits.

Website does not permit selection of 2023 Benefits! I have complained but who knows…
@Norris – Picked all mine but that was before 1JAN24 so…
After logging in are you using: https://www.delta.com/choicebenefits/showBenefits.action
Yes, alas…
I’m wondering if the online rep is in Asia (where it’s already Feb 1)?
since I reached Platinum on Dec 25, Delta says I do not qualify (even though they sent me an email saying I did…)
Sigh…
Chris – any suggestions for 2024 Choice Benefits?
Thanks!
We’ll go over that in the near future. I didn’t want to get everything confused with the 2023 benefits. Lord knows there’s already confusion with the SkyMiles 2025 program changes and all that to make all of our heads spin!
DONE!!!
I am on a frustrating chat with Delta – the rep is claiming that the deadline is past.
Any advice?
TIA!
Did you go to the page I linked to in the post?
I did mind this morning. You have to look for 2023 Choice Benefits, which is at the bottom. Confusing as 2024 Choice benefits selections are at the top of the page.
@Chris – I did!
@Joe – there is no live link (the only link took to a page with only 2024). Got the sam result with laptop and with phone…
UPDATE from Delta: since I reached Platinum on Dec 25, Delta says I do not qualify (even though they sent me an email saying I did…)
Sigh…
If you qualified for status on December 25, 2023, that’s for the 2024 Medallion year.
They said they had emailed me inviting me to select the 2023 benefits but that their email was in error. (Also said that the choice benefits website had been slammed.) Got an apology – and it’s only 20K miles so.
More important, I am grateful for your (& Rene’s & Joe’s) supportiveness!
This is weird. I’m starting to hear from more people about the same problem.
As a 2 million mile delta loyalist, i couldn’t be more disappointed. They continually make dumb moves and then retract some of them. Maybe instead of people who have no experiential basis for their decisions they should listen to their loyal frequent diamond flyers. To offer a single membership for the delta lounge memberships and for 2023 but not 2024 and then reallow for 2025? Since when does that make any sense other than to alienate people like me?
@TA – Sadly the ONLY thing Delta values is mega spend. Those like you who are loyal are not important clearly. Maybe one day they will wake up but that day is not today sad to say.
